Just moved to STX 3 weeks ago. Thankfully, quickly found a job in food service, but am ready to put down that card once and for all. Is there anywhere to volunteer or maybe a non-profit that may be hiring? I'm just looking to do something more meaningful and not as empty and fulfilling(no offense to anyone working in food industry, I'm just burned out) Any suggestions and leads greatly appreciated.

I always suggest the animal shelter. Or Whim museum or the botanical gardens. They have very different missions, but all are wonderful assets to STX.
But I am confused, do you want/need a paying job, or are you looking to volunteer in your free time in addition to working?

Well i do need a paying position, but i would definately like to volunteer, even if that means cutting back some hours at a paying job. I just want to feel good about what I am doing. And if that position happens to pay, thats even better.

There are tons of volunteer opportunities on Island - a lot mentioned above.
Some of the private schools often need help with fundraising and other events too.
Also check with the St Croix Foundation.
