VI Consortium on JFL
The Consortium is reporting that JFL signed an extension and the hospital won't lose the medicare coverage, whereas the Source, Daily News and Avis all report that the Hospital submitted its SIA last night before todays deadline. No word as to when the document will be reviewed.
The Consortium is going from terrible to unbearable.
VI Consortium = filthy rag.
11/21 Stx Avis: Hospital Averts Decertification!
Congratulations Dr. Griffith and the JFL workers for taking the correct step in hiring a legal team to appeal CMS's disingenuous assessment and their unfair decision to decertify.
Congratulations to the VI Consortium for being the first "blog" to break the good news after you correctly verified it.
How now brown cows?
Does the crow you're eating taste better with ketchup or mustard?
Thank you two for unwittingly exposing the Source to be what I have always said it to be: lethargic, highly edited, partially slanted non member of the Associated Press that it is. Good news always gets buried. Their corrupt friends friends get a pass.
Looks like the blog VI Consortium is on the job, though. What's that you said about terrible to unbearable, longhorn? Filthy rags, vicanuck? I wonder if you two are big enough to apologize, retract, or concede. The Avis headline has been out for 24 hours. Maybe not.
I get the feeling you people do not want this news to be true. Like you want the hospital to be decertified. All you had to do was call CMS. All that pessimism and distrust and demand for proof is better spent on that BS phony Hovensa sponsored corporation that with DeJongh's help is trying to con the VI and get Hovensa off the hook. Question their parent companies, experience, and financing, why don't you?
I am going to start advertising my business there, on VI Consortium They have over 7000 likes on Facebook.
Yee haw.
Oh stick a sock in it. Just because people don't share your views is no reason to keep up the childish retorts and barbs.
not true missjustice, not true. jfl is the only hospital in stx, so suggesting that a resident of st. croix wants it to get to st. croix is perposterus. no doubt the hospital has problems, to the point that senators from st. croix proudly get their treatment off island, but suggesting that someone who lives there wants to see it decertified is out of line.
my concern is the spread melee as opposed to vetting the news. confirming sources as credible, etc.

You are going to spend money based on FB likes? I'm surprised. But then again, maybe you'll get a lot of business from the 6000 likes that don't live here?
You're busted regarding the title, JFL and VI Consortium, and made the Source the yardstick for accurate and timely news, this time to your detriment. Period. Be gracious longhorn, and beg pardon.
Longhorn, can you find even one congratulatory line for our hospital even if you don't like my commentary?
Old Tart, everyone agrees with you and no one agrees with me? Really? How will I ever live? Are you happy for the residents of Stx, at least, or are you more consumed with me sticking a sick in it?
In ancient Greece they would kill the messenger if the news was bad, not if it was good.

I'm a little concerned about your reading comprehension abilities since I find no indication at all that I even suggested that, "everyone" agrees with me and that the opposite is true where you're concerned. I'm always happy for residents of the USVI when things work out for the good of all. You can stick a "sick" in it if that suits you better than a sock - whatever it takes to enable you to join a forum discussion as a mature adult and not a petulant child.
I asked you that question, Tart. I didn't say you suggested anything.
Review your post. What is it that you said about reading comprehension?
I think we can all agree that everyone is pleased that JFL has managed to avert decertifcation and disaster (again). However avoiding decertification is just a band-aid step to an ongoing problem that requires major surgery. Unless and until we see a change in the leadership and management of JFL, it will continue to have these major problems.
The petulant, gloating and antagonist responses to posters disagreeing with your point of view, missjustice, is getting very tiresome and is unwarranted, unnecessary, unwelcomed and unwanted.
As JDonSTT mentioned,"you get more flies with honey...."
The attack mode isn't serving you well.
Maybe time to switch it off?

This topic started in attack mode on VI Consortium, calling them filthy rag, terrible, and unbearable for (correctly) reporting that JFL avoided decertification. This is turned out to not be true. Alana, no one who said these things apologized. Decency requires them to do so. Even Consortium got a report wrong once that I know of and afterwards apologized.
Not one of those bloggers acknowledged the change in the certification with optimism. In other words, no honey.
I said in my response that JFL has some improving to do. I paraphrased the CMS report which lay a huge portion of the blame on the governor, and some on the senate. (CMS had cited the governor's failire to appoint enough board members to form a quorum. They also pointed to his budget cuts to the hospital, and his continued cutting of allotments that the senate appropriated.)
JFL got a another chance to improve. The residents of Stx and I have every reason to gloat. And no one is supposed to disagree with fact.
Yee haw!
Gloat:
contemplate or dwell on one's own success or another's misfortune with smugness or malignant pleasure.

Like!
The Virgin Islands Daily News ran a much better article, IMO, and the article spelled decertification correctly.
http://virginislandsdailynews.com/news/cms-accepts-luis-systems-improvement-plan-1.1791437
It gives details as to what the hospital has to do over the next 9 months to avoid decertification, and points out that this isn't the first systems improvement plan, so until the hospital implements improvements, they will not gain the confidence of the people. This has been going on for 3 very long years.
Hopefully they'll make progress with Chucky out of the picture.
And a new governor who is willing to appoint a board. I hope they get all the administrative support they need and make the internal improvements necessary.

I didn't call out VI Consortium as a filthy rag for reporting on JFL...I called them a filthy rag in general. Now I call VI Consortium a filthy sensationalist rag.
I don't trust anything they "report" to be factual nor should anyone else!
