Does anyone offer services for getting a car on the road after it comesa off the ship.

From what I understand the following has to be done:

1. Collect bill of lading from shipper
2. IRS for road tax
3. Motor Vehicle Bureau (permit to move car)
4. Clear customs (pay import duty)
5. Motor Vehicle Bureau for inspection and registration
Road tax receipt
Title/bill of sale

It seems overwhelming and time consuming. if you've gone through the process what are your experiences, and does someone offer services to getthe job done.

What is the import duty on used vehicles?(2000)

Thanks

Import tax depends on where the car was made... US cars pay no imort tax... all others the last time I checked was 3.5% of the Book Value of Bill of Sale - which ever is greater. (that was July last year that I called and asked)

Here are some folks you can try for doing the inspection stuff for you. I asked a friend and this is their reply.

Tradewinds Maritime Inc.

9160 Estate Thomas, Box 225

St. Thomas VI 00802

340-777-8903

Ask for Gloria

They say the have door to door service, Shipping from Miami to Stt Stj and

BVI.

The other company I was checking into brings cars down for people to buy,

but the also have other services.

Rapid Sales and Service

340-771-1832

I do not know much about the first company, but I always see the guys from

rapid service they seem ok.

Hope that helps.
