UVI?
Does anyone work at UVI or know someone who does? I'm interested in employment there. Can you please share your experiences? I'd like feedback on both faculty and administrative work, since I am qualified for both. Would you recommend it?
Would it be possible to find an apartment near enough to UVI to walk for the first few months? I realize getting groceries, etc would require a car.
Thanks!
Which island? UVI has campuses on both St. Croix and St. Thomas.
I believe UVI is neither easier nor more difficult as a place to work for those making the transition from the U.S. The administration can be very frustrating to those who are accustomed to a stateside management style. On the other hand, it can offer opportunities because it is an HBCU (historically black college/university) and as such is eligible for much grant funding.
UVI is not a party school. Most of the students really want to advance themselves. Of course, they often have young families and are going to school full time while holding down one full time job and one part time job to make ends meet. So they don't have the time to devote to education that everyone would wish, and profs are dealing with the results of these pressures.
