UVI @ STT or @ STX?
I am participating in an exchange program in the U.S. virgin islands. I have the option of attending the the University at STX or STT. Any personal opinions about which school / Island would give me the best exchange experience?
STT is evidently the more lively of the two islands, or so they say.
All I know is that the campus on STT is in a great location with a very nice view and looks good too 🙂
It should also depend on what subject you are studying. STX is more limited in its programs, especially with science classes. Check out the specific programs on each campus to make sure whichever one you chose will fit your academic needs.
what school do you attend now?
University of Alaska Fairbanks... big change, to say the least.
St Croix has more agriculture classes, St Thomas, marine science. Are you just trying to get away from Alaska, or do you want to learn something?
I'm at STX now (not student exchange, but there is a fairly good-sized group of NSE students here). It's a very small campus, and there's not a lot going on. There are maybe 60-70 people living on campus, so if you're looking for a close-knit experience, this is the way to go. On the downside, everyone knows everyone's business, and there are a lot of very young, very party-minded people on campus, which I as an older student don't necessarily care for.
Well, I'm looking to learn a few things, while living outside of my element at the same time. I'm majoring in social studies and minoring in French. I'm not looking for a major party atmosphere, I'm more into having a few drinks with a few good people. I've never lived on a campus so that will be a new experience for me too. I'm leaning more toward STT because the classes offered seem to meet my academic criteria a little more. I'm really just trying to get an idea about life on campus and on the islands in general.
