Utility Pole ABCs on STX?
When driving around STX I have noticed that several utility poles have "ABC" stickers (sometimes "CBA" about 10 feet off the ground. Most have silver boxes on them that look like some kind of cable / fiber installation. Anyone have any idea what they are?
ABC = Almost Burried Cable?
CBA = Constant Buzzing Above?

Yours is a much better answer!
...but I believe the boring correct answer is that it designates what kind of preservative the pole was made with.
There was a job listed on Craigslist involving surveying poles to check which had certain electronic devices/equipment, etc. It may be part of that project. ?!?!
It may have to do with the phase.
Below the static line are three power lines called transmission lines. Transmission lines get typically labeled "A," "B," and "C," and called the "A-B-C Phase." They conduct high voltage electricity from power plants to substations. Substations reduce the amount of voltage from 69 to 500 kilovolts down to five to 30 kilovolts and then send the power out on feeder lines connected to buildings and homes.

Yes, that's what I was wondering, but then I had to ponder who put them there? If WAPA did, makes you wonder if they know how their outside plant is connected? Maybe some kind of audit? I notice that the poles that have the labels on them seem to have a silver box on them, so that made me wonder if it might be associated with cable TV, or the like...
I think that since there are so many poles and poles have different configuration see examples below

Poles run along the road and the road curves all the time. So it seems like some labeling of the ABC phases
