I just watched a video that said USVI is giving out $300.00 to tourist in 2017. Is this true???

Yep... meanwhile we cant get our tax returns for 4 years. Getting over it all pretty damn quick.
Its for certain hotels and its $300 in vouchers to use at participating tours on the islands. but that money is coming from somewhere and you bet your A its from OUR pockets.

This is nothing new. The USVI Tourism Bureau has been providing vouchers/coupons for years as part of accommodation booking promotion. Guests pickup the vouchers when they check-in and can use them like cash at participating merchants. The merchants get reimbursed for the vouchers they collect. This is paid for out of the hotel tax.

I DONT mind this promotion. if it gets people to come down here and spend money on our islands

Bahamas will even pay for plane tickets to outer islands I think
