USVI BMV website down?
We are preparing to get our VI drivers licenses, but when trying to access the BMV website to get all the details of what documentation we need, we have found over the past several days that their website is returning a 404 error - the website currently does not exist at the URL USVIBMV.org.
Anyone know what is happening, or who to contact for information about the status of their site?
By the way, watch out for gross overcharges when registering a vehicle, such as the excise tax and charging for "personalized plate" when not requesting personalized plates. Who does one contact to pursue redress for such issues?
They are in the process of changing over to the drivers' license standard used in the States (Secure ID?) I was in there last week and they had new signs and fees, but they weren't ready to offer everything on the list.
I think the list of required documents is on those new signs. They should be posting the new info "soon." You will hear that word in response to many questions.
Even when the BMV website was working, it was wrong. See this thread for documents you'll need for a USVI drivers license: https://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/read.php?4,197298
I posted the forms on that thread in 2013, so you might want to call the BMV to ask if the requirements have changed since then.
Just call them to see what you need.
The number is in the phone book in VI government section.
Went to register my truck this morning and there was no waiting.
Surprising for this time of the month. In and out in 30 minutes, including getting a certificate of title which I paid for 15 years ago and never received. Didn't have to pay for it again, either.
Mr. Olive in STT is very "hands on."
I have some free time tomorrow, so may go down and take photos of latest signs. I know fees have increased and they added a non driver ID (which is why I went in to inquire because I needed to settle an argument!)
Will try to post latest info tomorrow morning.

The drivers license requirements are too complex for the BMV to explain entirely by phone. I tried it once, they gave me incomplete and vague answers, and I wasted my time bringing the wrong documents.
Just see this thread https://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/read.php?4,197298 . It has the BMV numbers on the form I posted. Call and ask the BMV if the requirements have changed since 2013. If no change, then the form shows what you need.
