Hey, I've had a hard time down here with buying used books online because half.com isn't set up for the USVI. BUT I just discovered betterworld.com, which has great prices and considers us a U.S. destination, so free shipping!
Just figured I'd pass along the recommendation.
So, the off the top of my head list of online companies offering free shipping to VI:

Thanks! I've never heard of this site but it looks great! JCrew also ships via USPS Priority mail to the VI. They are pricey but their sale page online always has some great stuff. Sometimes you can get bathing suit tops and bottoms for $9.99 each.

I don't think I ever get free shipping on new books at amazon but thanks for the info on betterworld.com. I'll sure check it out.

Amazon offers free super saver shipping on $25 and over orders of new books. This does not qualify for books placed from marketplace sellers. If you choose a book on Amazon, it will say whether it qualifies for super saver shipping (I believe all new ones do). It's a pretty good deal!

I didn't pay any attention so you must be correct, Letahl. It used to be those shipping offers didn't apply down here. I use the "one click" option so I guess I have gotten the free shipping & didn't realize it. Makes me feel less guilty about buying so many books.

Amazon's free shipping is not just for books, they also include most items sold through them (e.g. belts, cds).
Also, Barnes & Noble has the same free shipping offer and if you sign up on their mailing list they often send out discount codes.
