update
Hello to all our message board friends:
Linda and I are still in KC waiting for our house to close here. It seems to be taking forever, which doesn't help our morale. But, we know that it WILL happen eventually - we are told now that next Monday is the day. It's just so nerve wracking to wait on a process over which we have little to no control. We are out of the house and staying with our daughter who lives in a loft in the River Market area. Thank god for her lovely and welcoming space. We sent out about 30 containers last week parcel post and still believe we will be there in time to receive them at our condo. We may sneak over to the house and bury St. Joseph in front of the house for good luck!
We are counting on attending the get together in STX on the 21st and can't wait to relax and meet everyone.
Dianne, we'll call for a get together here this weekend.
Mike & Linda
Hi Guy's
Just give me a call - this weekend looks good for me although Sunday I have a brunch and a 4pm appointment, so Saturday would be best. Today is my last day at work (mixed feeling on that one) although I will be in the studio on Friday and I'm sure at least a few days before we leave on the 21st. See you both soon.
Thanks for the update!!! Keep us posted and our prayers are with you! Can't wait to meet you at the BBQ on the 21st.
GOOD LUCK
Hey Twindomes, did you build a Dome home in STX, and if so how do you like it so far? Thanks
Good Day Mike and Linda,
Well, it has been some time since we all met at Starbucks, and now we are almost all here on the islands!
I hope your boxes get here intact. We sent about 20 boxes USPS and 2 boxes of books didn't make it past KC and MLPS. One arrived in an enevlope... just the mailing label and postage stamp cut from the boxes and forwarded to us. The other box arrived empty and stuffed inside another box by the USPS. The whole bottom edge of the box was torn away, and yet none of the tape was torn. We were told "off the record" that if the boxes get stuck on an overhead conveyor, they use a hook to remove it, spilling the contents on the ground as they rip it from the conveyor, then simply throw the contents away rather than repacking it. You do get a nice letter telling you that they only damage 1 in 350,000 packages that go through their facility, and they would be happy to refund the postage. Lesson: Make sure you insure anything of value.
Sorry about the "hurry up and wait" aspect of getting your loan. We closed the sale of our KC house last week, but they were totally pre-approved. I wrote and closed my first one here in less than 30days, like I used to do regularly in KC, but there can be many reasons they can get delayed. I imagine your realtor made sure the buyers were pre-qualified and it is simply a matter of letting the lender do his job while you painfully watch the clock. It is probably a non issue, but if it keeps getting pushed back, ask to see the buyers mortgage committment. If they can't deliver one, see if they can get a pre-approval letter. If you can't get that, then they may not have a loan yet.
I don't think I will make it down to the STX get-together, but when you get settled drop me a line and we can look to meet up when one or the other is island.
Take care,
Thanks for the update Mike & Linda! All the best with the sale and final steps before the move.

Hang in there guys. If you are lucky, you have the rest of your life to be here. LindaJ will be back on island 8/13. If her new knee is up to it, we will be at the get together on 8/21. It will be good to see you guys again. Unfortunately, Saturday nights at OTW are out for a few weeks. They are closing on the 8th for a couple of weeks for "renovation". I hope they get it done in a couple of weeks. See you soon.
