TV, Internet, cellphone services on east end of St. Croix?
Hello, all...
While rebuilding a house on the east end of St. Croix in South Grapetree Bay, I'm evaluating TV, Internet, and cellphone services.
1. TV looks to be a relatively easy decision, and I'm leaning toward Innovative Cable.
2. I'm impressed by Choice's High-Speed Internet service, at least as it's described online. It appears to be superior to Innovative.
3. Choice and Innovative both offer seemingly attractive cellphone deals, with unlimited minutes per month.
Any opinions on the above options? Are there others I should explore?
Lastly, I'd like to know how essential a land-line telephone is on St. Croix these days. I'm considering terminating that service, but people with many years of experience on the island may give me a different perspective.
Thanks, in advance, for thoughts and suggestions!
Disclosure: I am an Authorized Dish Network and Hughesnet retailer on STX..

I think you should really explore Dish Network.
More channels for less money. More reliable. Free HD and DVR, Sling.............

Choice is not available everywhere. Many that have tried it are disappointed. We recommend BBVI "Broadband VI" if you can get a signal.
A more expensive solution that works everywhere is Hughesnet. Very reliable but does have it's drawbacks.

Can't really comment on this. We have ATT.

1. I love Dish Network and would never go back to Innovative due to the many outages & poor customer service.
2. We use Broadband VI and are pleased with the product (could be faster). We know at least 4 people who have left Choice as it did not perform as indicated.
3. We have AT&T and are happy with it. I would verify with anyone other than Sprint or AT&T about rates when you travel to the states (one person told me they were very high).
As for the landline - we keep ours because sometimes after big storms the cell phones are out but the landline works (static but works). This has been a big discussion for us lately but we still have it.
1. One more vote for DishNetwork
2. One more vote for BBVI
3. One abstention
1 Dish Net Work
2 BBVI tried Choice and the speed was nice when it worked, but it didn't always and the latency was high. Customer Servie
was clueless
3 AT&T Cell if you travel. It is out sometimes for several days, but then I use either Skype of a MagicJack with BBVI since the are up and
functioning 99% of the time.
Avoid Innovative if you value your sanity. Their customer service is pathetic and what they do offer is only available during business hours.
Same here as Jim Dandy
1. Dish ( no other way)
2. Broad band
3. ATT and we currently have a land line but use Magic Jack for long distance calls (free)
Thanks to everyone who has shared opinions so far; this is very helpful!
