Hi!
My boyfriend and I are moving to St. Croix next month for a job. We have two dogs, both about 55 pounds each. It’s looking like I have found two options for flying them. First, we can use Amerijet where the dogs fly without us from Miami to Puerto Rico to St. Croix at about $1500. Or the dogs fly cargo with American Airlines from Miami to St. Thomas then we take ferry from St. Thomas to St. Croix. The second option seems the way to go. Curious if anyone else has had experience with this recently or if there are any other options I’m not sure about? Thanks!

Yes those are your two options, the ferry is most likely cheaper but be prepared to get sea sick.  I used petcargo.com who coordinated everything for me, but if money is the issue, then use the ferry imo.  Good luck.  🙂

You mean the vomit comet ferry lol. It’s not that bad really just take the sea sickness medicine to be safe.

You can try looking up Salli Gear at Air Transport International on Facebook. If you are coming down from the east coast and have some flexibility in your budget DM me.

@knowlesstak

I was wondering who would chime in and call it by its famous name...the Vomit Comet!

I took the ferry once to St. Thomas several years ago...never again.

If I can't fly, I'm not going.

Hi - we are trying to find a way to get our 80lb lab to STT, too.  We are flying American but it looked to me like they only allow checked dogs for military and foreign-service personnel from their website.  Am I reading that wrong?

They stopped taking animals due to covid. Are you sure there are not a service dog and pay the $150 and they fly in the cabin with you.

Its not nearly as easy to get a dog to fly in the cabin as a service animal as it used to be.

As a result of the massive amount of "service animal" abuse, all airlines have severely cracked down on these so called service animals.

Personally, I'm glad they did and I hope they continue to do so.

They cracked down emotion support animals, and no longer allow them to fly. Still pretty easy to get a service dog permit. Those who will issue the paperwork are only in it for the money.  Welcome to the society that we live where anything and everything can be taken advantage of. Don’t even get me started on women's swimming. Lol

Yeah, the whole trans sports thing is ridiculous!

There needs to be a third category or something.

It can't be allowed to continue as it is.

I agree. The fact that our society allows this to happen by electing these officials is beyond understanding.

If they want a third division works for me. To take away a life’s work from these women is a joke. It’s not just swimming either. Track weightlifting etc already happening.

Since when did we become so worried about offending someone for the greater good.

it’s not like I can tell my employer I now identify at my retirement age, and tell social security I identify at the age to get max benefits. Trust me I tried lol.

When TV viewership and sponsorship dollars dollars disappear, things will change quickly.

Yep but I doubt those sports get very little as is. Why they wouldn’t dare do that to a major sport.
