Traveling Nurse Info Needed
Good night, Everyone.
I did a quick search on the board for some info on traveling nursing and came up a bit short. My mom is a traveling nurse and I am trying to get her to come down to STT for a 3 month adventure! She is speaking to a company who puts their staff up in Sapphire which sounds great, but she has a dog. So, she'll be looking for pet friendly housing and easy transporation without having to deal with the hassel of buying and selling a car in 3months. She won't be coming until Nov. so I'm putting my feelers out now.
Anyone else on this board a traveling nurse? If so, what company are you with, area of the island living on, and what are you doing for transporation? Also, I would love an honest account of your experience at the hospital and with the staff. It would be great to put her in touch with a network of nurses here. I have heard mixed reviews of working at the hospital, but my mom knows she would be coming for the adventure and has the right attitude not to mention tons of experience.
Thanks in advance,
Jen
Greetings Jen
I'll send you a PM later today. I have a friend who works as a travel nurse in STT. Much of the information I've seen posted on this board regarding nursing is, let's say, inconsistent with her experiences. With the right attitude, your mom will undoubtedly have a great time on a 13-week assignment.
Greetings All,
I have followed this site for sometime and I am impressed with, and appreciative of how generous you all are with your time and information for potential 'from awayers'. Let me add another to the list, my husband and myself.
I have been following and searching for information on the nursing situation on the islands. I have a contact that would love to sign me up thru their agency as a traveler on STT. However, I am looking for info on STX. Some of the nursing info seems quite negative and yet I am sure the need is there for nurses. I have seen the advice here to take a travel assignment and see if all stacks up to what one wishes once the romance is gone. To be honest the reason we are interested in STX is we are not busy-busy people and the atmosphere of STX seems more laid back from the little experience we have had. Anyone know someone who works in STX hospital that would be willing to mentor a newbie on the trials and tribulations of island nursing? Would appreciate the input. Thanks
I also am interested in hearing others nursing stories, although I am not going to travel ( I took a position as a staff nurse in the ER) I would enjoy a few hints. I was down a couple of weeks ago for a PMV and also met with them at the hospital and took a tour , was very happy with what I saw and heard.
Hi Babs,
Did you take a position on STT?
Thanks,
Jen
Yes I did, I start on Oct 1st. Will be down on STT by the 25 of Sept to get settled.
