Hi Everyone,

In my reading of postings, (maybe I just didn;t go back far enough) I haven't seen anything on the use of scooters or motorcycles on the island. We didn't see much on our PMV and wonder if it is a solution instead of having 2 cars on the island.

Babs - use the SEARCH function to find threads about motorcycles. There have been many conversations on this topic. Which island are you talking about? STT and STJ usually don't recommend motorcycles due to the roads. STX has some motorcycles and depending on where you live and the roads you need to drive it might work to have a motorcycle as a second vehicle. You probably do want one car, however.

Babs,
All the USVI's would make an excellent motocross track. The pitch of the roads lean to the outside, making your lean in the turn more dramatic, The daily shower's manage to keep the roads slippery when wet, the blind turns, and hilltop arrivals are exhilarating, pot holes that eat small cars and overgrown vegetation on the side of the roads makes for a jousting event with oncoming traffic for the center of the road. Forget about liability insurance! life insurance is more appropriate.
After my wife, kids, dog and the USVI's, my passion is motorcycles. I started out with a 1960 Vespa that I had to hide from my mother. I have had Trumph's/BSA/Norton's(Henderson which was made by the Schwinn bicycle co), and an assortment of Harley's sportster's.Fat Boy, Heritage and ultra classic. I currently have a ultra classic(Dresser) which is garaged in the state's. When I go to the mainland, "I ride." I couldn't imagine a safe ride down here. I'm a life member of the AMA and HOG and a past instructor for the motorcycle safety course. My advise is "DON'T DO IT".

If you do use two wheels to go to work on the islands, you will not need coffee in the AM for a kick start that day!

hey everyone

I to wish to thank you for the info. It did seem at the time to be a good idea at the time. Wishful thinking I guess. I'll be working in the emergency room when I arrive, I really don't want to show up to work as a patient.
