Wondering if anyone out there has had this travel experience. I cannot get a straight answer from the airlines involved or the airport.
I will be traveling from St. Croix on Seaborne airlines, with a dog in a crate. I then need to take a Liat flight from St. Thomas to Anguilla. Does anyone know , will my luggage and dog transfer by the airlines (from Seaborne to Liat)? Or do I need to collect them and go through the security process again? Thanking for the correct answer in advance 🙂

All of my trips on Seaborne landed in the Charlotte Amalie harbor, then get all of your stuff and take a taxi to the airport...

Marty,

Seaborne flies from STX airport to STT airport.

I would think terryd would still need to collect the dog and luggage for check in on Liat.

LIAT doesn't have a baggage agreement with any other airline in STT. You would need to recheck it with them

Whichever carrier you are flying from STX they most like do not have a baggage agreement with Liat like DL said. That means you must exit the sterile area and collect your checked items. Then take him for a pee give him some water and check back in with Liat and process through security again for your next segment and pay some more fees.. I hope you left plenty of time to connect to your Liat flight and hopefully a Mrs. Howell type isn't on your flight and checked 10 bags. Weight limits are always a issue.

Thanks everyone. As it turns out we waited too long to make my hubby's arrangements. All flights for Liat are sold out for his travel dates. So looks like he'll get to be on the first cape air flight, stx-sju-axa. We are just waiting for a confirmation call that he can take the dog. If so, I would imagine that would be the smoothest transition of all. Problem on our end is dog hates the crate. Once he's in, it's best he stays in til he makes his destination, or chances are one person will not get him back in.

Make sure you are going to be able to comply with our pet policy, as there are special policies set up for AXA. Here is the link.

we are in compliance with AXA regulations. My husband got the permit while here in Nov. Health certificate was obtained monday moring, it is now it PR being stamped and sent back to us. I have up to date immunization records. We are familiar with the process....we brought the dog home from Anguilla, he's gone back to Angulla before and travelled to St. Croix.

On another note, so glad I didn't take him on Liat. I've been in Anguilla since Monday, my bag has still not arrived. I was told last night that it would go to Antigua today and arrive in Anguilla tonight. We'll see.

Sounds great. I just like to make sure that our passengers do not suffer any surprises. Surprises when traveling are rarely good things.

not getting your bag for 5 days and counting is a huge surprise. Looking forward to the Cape Air experience , hope it's better than the Liat.

Exit Zero and Island Pilots...cute and it's nice to get a chuckle out of something so frustrating. Just sent my email off to Liat, will see if anyone cares.
My husband LOVED cape air. He had a little snafu on the trip over, seems the dog wasn't checked all the way through so there was a scuffle in SJU. Otherwise, he is willing to sing his praises for the airline. Once he's home will get him to add a post here , as well as the Anguilla forum.
