Todays Daily News - My Fsted surf pic Front page 😉
Yesterday my friend texted me to get to the beach and bring my camera. I grabbed my 8lb 600mm and rushed out of the house. HUGE (ell for Fsted) waves all day yesterday so I spent the afternoon taking some surfing shots and one was used on front page of the Daily News today. Silly but I am really excited about it. I see my design work all over but theres something about seeing your art - a hobby really out there in real life lol.
Heres the rest of the pics. http://www.photosvi.com/Hurricane-Matthew-Surf/
If you know any of these surfers (I only know a couple of them) please have them email adrianpoe@me.com and I will send them their pics.
Glad to see the surfers had fun, such a hard sport and LOVED seeing some girls out there kicking A!! It was pretty insane out at butler bay. I mean BIG waves, all is back to relative normal today and crews are cleaning up around the Fsted fort.
Im pretty stoked about the paper on top of last month having a STX spread in a "NAUI Sources" magazine, in conjunction with the new dive shop Adventures in Diving STX. really cool to see something I just do for fun out there in print! :@)
It is a great photo! More than half front page.
WOW those are some awesome shots!!!!!
Hey can you post the link to the NAUI Sources spread?
Hum... I looked and don't see it online. I will take some pics of the spread tomorrow. Hopefully its readable. I wonder if Kmart has it? I have my copy that they sent me.
Nice! I can't believe the size of those waves. In Jacksonville, we're getting ready for less picturesque effects of Matthew!
good shots, my favorite is the second from the left very top
Congratulations on the front page pic!
Awesome.
Pretty amazing that Matthew could affect the surf off of Fredericksted to such an extent from so far away.
Saw a video posted on Facebook yesterday of a beachfront restaurant there, just getting blasted by waves.
The east coast is going to get slammed by this monster.
Everybody's gone surfin'
surfin' USVI!!!!!!!!!!
I was told the surfer in your pic on the dront page of the VI Daily News is Pi's son. She owns Freedom City.
great shots!
Actually, I love all your photos in all the different galleries.
Wonderful!
Congratulations. Picked up the paper at the store today and took a double take at the surfs up cover photo. Was cool to see your post that it was your pic! Nicely done. (tu)(tu)
Excellent photos! Gotta love long, fast glass! 600mm you say?
Everybody's gone surfin'

LOL!
Great photos and congrats on the front page!

Awesome pics! Where exactly in F'sted is this surf spot?
Well Fsted NEVER looks like this lol. Some were taken in front of freedom city surf, some at rainbow and some at butler. Butler had the best sets it looked like, the other beaches seemed pretty irrational and braking pretty shallow.
I tell you it was awesome to watch the surfers. It was electric out there, they were having the times of their lives! The girl on the flame board was SO fun to watch, she had the biggest smile the entire time and the guys were just in heaven.
Here's the spread, aerial shot isn't mine but the rest are. Not sure if you'll be able to read it lol. Will try for better pics if you can't. Still not sure why I can't find it online. It's 2016 third quarter edition of Sources by NAUI.
Fabulous!
(tu)thanks Adrian! I love your new website design also!
Glad the surf is down again, maybe the beaches will come back soon?
(and my workers will quit calling into work with "surf sickness".... haha)

Hello LiquidFluoride,
I've noticed, from visits to St. Croix, that the Frederiksted area beaches have a lot of fluctuation in amount of sand at different times of the year. Sometimes Rainbow Beach for example seems longer and sand piled up higher on the shore... and other times the rocky ends of the beach are more exposed. Same for Frederiksted Beach and Dorsch. Are they all very eroded after the surf/waves last week?
The beaches south of Fsted appear to be as sandy or even more so than prior to the high surf. I was also at Rhythms at Rainbow Beach this weekend and while I did not venture onto the beach, it did not appear to be affected too badly, particularly relative to past high surf events there.
Thanks JE, good to hear that. 🙂
Yea I don't think it did that much damage to the beaches. Lots of exposed rock at FCS the day of - water was washing up clear under the deck. The pier is closed still so had to get in the water from the beach just south side of the pier and that beach is double in width. As expected terrible visibility but its been three weeks and I HAD to go diving lol. Found some GREAT chaney though!
I will never forget that flood we had in STT - was it three years ago now? I mean it was INSANE. Like 3 feet of water at hull bay rushing on the road into the ocean. I've seen bad flooding in AZ - but we got stranded at the Hideaway until it stopped. I can think if a LOT worse places to be stranded lol. I remember I tried a night snorkel the next night with 9 tourists. That was an epic fail... I washed my entire body with peroxide too. Wasn't my idea lol!
