The short answer on the Irie --> Shaggy relationship? No, they're not directly related.

I purchased Irie from a breeder in Boca Raton some 12 years ago. When I was ready to bring another golden into the fold I found a breeder in Plant City, which is much closer to Orlando. Small world that it is, it turns out that the breeder in Plant City owned the father of Irie.

I'm well aware that this type of thing (pedigree research), holds no interest for most people outside of breeders. So I'll save you the time and tell you that the pedigrees reveals that Irie's grandfather, Am CH Asterling's Buster Keaton, is also Shaggy's great-great grandfather. There are also some relationships that are intertwined farther back than that. Apparently incest is well-practiced in the world of dogs. 🙂
