On STX, a little extra ground clearance is nice, but not absolutely necessary. Front wheel drive is normally all you'll need. Jeeps are very popular, nonetheless.
We drove a Camry for years and occasionally bottomed out if we weren't careful, mostly on speed bumps. Now we have a RAV4 and we never hit bottom.

you do not need a jeep. i brought my ford escort and it did just fine and there are plenty of little cars
