Thinking about moving and pregnate
Hi Ya'll my husband a wonderful man I have been married to for 5 years has had the idea of moving to the islands and starting our life over. We are not escapeing from anything or running away from our problems, we simply visited the island on a cruise a few years ago and loved it.
The hang up is I just found out I'm pregnate with our first child. Our expected move date was august 1st of next year. But with my due date only a few days from that, we have decided to wait until the end of the month or even a few months later. Mabey Oct. 2006
I have read all this info on the discussion boards and the website, as well as gotten dozens of books to try and get ready for this move. But with the baby comeing I was wondering if anyone out there could give us advice on moving to St T with a 1 to 3 month old in tow. Things like daycare, Pediatricians ect. Has anyone else out there been through this?
Thanks
Lynn
I think having your baby in the states is an excellent idea. You can read through my current posts (kellymac) if you'd like to get some feedback. I am actually starting a mommies group so you can meet us when you get on island. Things are not as easy here as they are in the states, but we are all managing to make it work for us. I get frustrated with the long waits for everything, including the pediatrician. Today I go visit a new one. Dr. Mac so I will keep you posted on that one. There are lots of moms here on island so if you guys decide it's best for you then you will have support. Scroll through some topics on children, schools, etc. and see for yourself. Do it now that you will have time because when that baby arrives, you won't....:) My little one is 15 days old.
good luck.
I am carrying my first child on island now. My pregnancy is considered high risk. I am considering moving back to the states.
I had to have surgery on this island and it scared me to death, I had nightmares for weeks before. Dr Kean was wonderful, but there are many issues with the hospital here.
Everything moves so slowly on island, what if there is an emergency?
I also worry, what if there is something wrong with my baby. When he or she arrives, what if he needs a neonatal specialist? I would like to be in the states to have a specialist near.
A woman I know, who just gave birth back in the states, is so happy she decided to. She had so many complications, she was sure that it could have been a disaster if she would have stayed on island.
I think you should seriously consider staying in the states until your baby has arrived and is safe, healthy and happy.
I know people have had safe and healthy babies on island, and I know I may be overly concerned. I know everyone worries too much with baby number one ~ I also know it is not good for the baby ~ but I can't help it.
Good Luck Genie.
