The Single Life
How is the Single Life, are there opportunities for romance or will it be hard to find someone?
Sure, just remember what I've heard down here quite a few times: she's not your girlfriend it's just your turn.
Sean
Now that's good stuff right there.*-)
Or, as the women say, "the odds are good but the goods are odd........."
So in other words, things will be the same. I should fit right in LOL
It depends on your race, too...if you're white, on STT, it's something like 7 men for every woman, hence the "You never lose your girlfriend, you just lose your turn"...great for the women, not so great for us men...
But, if you're of African decent, then the odds are just about reversed...more women than men...
If you don't care about race, it's about 51/49 females/males. Same as everywhere else in the world.
From the "Demographic" section of the Wikipedia page about the VI: "For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.7 males"
This eads us to believe that it's a 1.14/1 ratio of male to female...and it is, but that's including all races, from all demographics...but, since most people tend to date those of their own race or demographic, then the ratio for available white men from the North American continent (I use this as the example because I am one), to available white women from the North American continent rises to approximately 7/1, male to female...so, to answer your question again...it depends on your race, demographic and dating qualifications...for the majority of us single, white men from North America: The dating scene sucks.

I was quoting statistics for those who may not only be interested in dating their race or demographic. The 51/49 ratio is about 1.04 females per 1 male, which is the worldwide statistic. Compared to the 1.14 statistic from Wikipedia for the VI, that's probably not a significant difference (statistically). There are many local men and women of all colors who are interested in people for who they are, rather than just what they look like or how much money they make.
Many people in the VI's actually do date outside of their race and demographics!! That's a nice thing about the VI--that there is a lot of interracial relationships. I'm not saying there is total racial harmony (where is there anywhere?), but interracial/intercultural dating is accepted and common here.
Did you not read the last lines of my post, Em? "it depends on your race, demographic and dating qualifications...for the majority of us single, white men from North America: The dating scene sucks."
Now, I was trying to be comical by quoting statistics and being all professional, then end with the zinger...but it sounds like you are trying to debate me...read the last lines again..."It depends on your race, demographic and dating qualifications...for the majority of us single, white men from North America: The dating scene sucks." I stand by my statement because it DOES depend on your qualifications....and the MAJORITY of us aren't inclined to mix races...I certainly wouldn't say that 'many' people do it and I don't think there are 'a lot' of those relationships...but maybe that's because I take the definition of those words too literally (Definition of MANY 1: consisting of or amounting to a large but indefinite number - and Definition of A LOT 1: to a considerable degree or extent 2: often, frequently )...
I don't mean to sound like you will be ostracized for dating outside your race or demographic, cuz you won't...but I certainly wouldn't try to make others think that it's prevalent here...cuz it's not. I see West Indian men date white women from the States all the time...but I have only known ONE white man from the States date a West Indian woman.....just my experience and observation, mind you...
