The Governor speaks
My favorite:
"Asked if he could lead by example by staying at cheaper hotels or cutting back on vehicles, Mapp added that he could “use a horse and cart and sleep in a tent in the parking lot,” but did not see, with a $64 million cut to the executive branch budget, how that would help."
Maybe not. But I suggest he try it anyway...
It wouldn't hurt and would set an example.
Jerry Brown had the historic CA governor's mansion renovated at a modest cost and is now living there instead of expensive hotel suites or the Taj Mahal that Reagan had built for future governors and was later sold to replenish the state coffers.
His motto is "Do as I say, not as I do!"
You'll have to pry his bloody fingers from the Ritz Carlton suite.
He's not about to give up living in the lap of luxury and spending heaps of our money to do so.
