I don't understand why you guys just don't save up and come. If hes in construction he'll definitely get contracting work. People, me included, always need a contractor. If you know how to work in a doctors office, there's alot of other things you could do until you get a position with a doctor. Save up 5k to 10k then come back. You've already been here so you have the inside track and should know how you can save money and where to live, all the confusing stuff. If you want to be here you can get a job and make it work.

There is a hearing on Thatch Cay in the Legislature FRI 3/27 -- they DO have a CZM permit - it has over 20 special conditions but was issued - their R1 zoning is the topic tomorrow in the Senate - the developers are off Island people the local project design is by DeJongh Associates - 774-8035
It is planned as a 10 year project - it has a huge 7,000 sq ft dock, Marina with 20+ slips and a mooring field, an artificially enhanced beach, barge landing, and the infrastructure including clubhouse, landing pad, desal, sewage plant and facilities for over 100 multi million dollar villas.
It basically opens the door for all the other private offshore cays to be developed.

I dont want to be a chicken little but I sure hope this does not get approved. I cant even begin to imagine all the negative impact on the environment. The private cays are almost all that is left of the islands the way they used to be.

Stephaniv, in about two years the little project past cheesburgers has flipped the existing house on the property to a information house and built a very average driveway. Actually its a horrible driveway thats half gravel half concrete, so someone is always going to have to rake it and add more gravel. I had a couple a year and a half ago come look at my house to rent and insisted they could only do a 6 month lease because their house would be built by then their. Since the husband had lived here all his life I felt he should know better and didn't want to embarrass him in front of his wife, but we both knew that wasn't going to happen.

There is zero size of them building houses or townhouses yet. Every six months it seems like they change exactly what they are going to build here. And frankly, nothing is moving on the real estate market right now. So I'll be extremely surprised if it really goes through.

***Do people on STT really want another development?? Not being snarky, just curious, it seems so built up already.
