Thank you, Frequent-Forum-Users
Hello to you peoples of the beautiful USVI, that frequently post here.
I want to have my first post here be a massively large THANK YOU to all of you that reside there and/or contribute this forum (and the host(s) of this site as well).
The fact that you folks take a few moments of your day to look in and answer questions posed by those seeking information, advise, opinions, and perspectives about life on your islands, is, in a word, wonderful...! - The 'human resources' that you provide are, I'm sure, VERY valuable to many, and your contributions here (the good, the bad, the beautiful, and even the ugly) are essentially a very kind gesture towards your fellow humans.
So, thank you all...! 🙂
(Extraneous info follows);
My personal story is that I would truly like to move to another PLANET, where there is no hunger, no war, no strife, no pollution, no hate, no crime, no racism, and other things of this sort. - But until I can either 1.) apply the theories of 'quantum entanglement' and develop a machine for transporting myself, and/or us ALL to such a place, or 2.) die, I am considering coming and spending some 'life-time' in your area (STX, to be specific). - While all of the above-mentioned things exist there, as they do EVERYWHERE on this weird spinning rock, at least the weather is consistently nicer there (well, except for when the sea cooks up BIG storms), the flora/fauna are more beautiful than in DC, and the people there seem more interesting/unique than most 'continentals' (at least that's my own personal experience/perspective/fantasy).
I am heading down there (from the DC area - with the whole family this time) for another 'PMV', for 2-3 weeks in July. In my current vocation as a professional musician (pianist/keyboardist/ancillary academician), I'd love to get a few 'gigs' while there this time (well, at least jamming with some other players there would be fun!), - but otherwise have no agenda other than, listen, watch, and learn. (And having a beer/glass of rum/coffee with some of the more 'interesting' folks that post here is high on my list as well.)
So, again, thank you all for your contribution(s) to this particular community of humans that love, desire, and look forward to, life as an island dweller. You all are very kind, in your own ways, and have taught me and others like me much more than perhaps you realize. You all at least deserve a real, and/or virtual, hug.
That is all. 🙂
Sincerely, do take good care.
Nadirfend
Can you teach? Music teacher retiring at one of the elementary public schools on island. You can apply at the USVI board of education.
Thanks for that info, sheiba... I probably won't act on it (due to it not neatly fitting into "The Current 3-Year Plan" for myself and family) but I certainly will share the info with friends/colleagues.
I imagine that teaching music on STX would be a great experience, at least from an ethnomusicology perspective... Lots of musical "mixing-up" has occurred there over the past several hundred years no doubt, and it would be a wonderful context in which to teach children there the 'balanced brain goodness' that knowing (anything about) music can bring to the learning experience.
Thanks again.

Welcome!! You'll probably find that STX has, considering our small size, quite a number of very talented musicians in all genres...you should hear our Steve Katz play flamenco guitar, for example...he's world class good. We also have JJ Rocks, an extremely talented guitarist who has many contacts in the music industry. We have Elvis Pedro, who can play jazz guitar with the best of them. St. Thomas has some phenomenal musicians too, guys like Roan Creque who is a pianist, like yourself.
You will find no shortage of great musicians here to jam with...make sure you bring that Roland with you (unless you're a Korg guy, or Yamaha LOL)
