Tennis
Are there any tennis courts available for use by people living on Island...for instance maybe at UVI or somewhere else besides hotels, who probably don't allow non-guests to use their courts?
Hello VIDee,
There are public courts on St. Thomas - there is one down in Subbase close to the public works building. Last time I played there was a long time ago it needed a little work but was doable, don't know the condition now, it didn't have lights if I remember correctly so no evening games. UVI has courts yes, they are pretty good. You can pay a membership fee of some sort at places like Mahogany Run and I think the Yacht Club and play there. Resorts like Wyndham and Grand Palace (formerly Renaissance) have tennis lessons for the community for a fee not sure if its actually through them or a contract they have with a tennis instructor. There is tennis to be had here, but would need to make some calls to find out the specifics on where you can play. Perhaps a more active tennis player will be able to assist more or else I'll make a few calls and see what I can find out.

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to know whether the courts in Subbase and UVI are free to the public?
Sapphire Beach Resort has tennis courts as well. 775-6100
Hello VI Dee,
Yes the Subbase courts are public courts. The UVI courts - I called the Activities and Housing Dept and the lady that answered said yes the courts can be used by the public. UVI teaches tennis so if there is a class (usually in the am) then they use the courts so of course you can not play then.

Thanks so much for your help! You guys are great! 🙂
The Ritz-carlton has tennis courts, but I'm not sure if they have some kind of fee to use them. call 340-775-3333 for more info.
