Hi! I am wondering what month(s) of the year are the hottest and what time of the year the mosquitos are bad, or are they always bad?

Hello Jackson,

These are the avg temperatures by month:
85 85 86 87 88 89 90 90 90 89 87 86

More info at http://www.vinow.com/usvi/weather.php

Usually Aug, Sept, Oct are the hottest. Mosquitos are not always bad. They get bad when it rains a lot. The rainier months happen to be Aug - Oct too... but if it rains a lot at any time during the year the mosquitos multipy...

We just came back from our vacation and my experience, the mosquitos were very bad !!
It has been dry there, but they are out to eat you alive!! Even my husband got tons of bites - it seems that NY mosquitos don't like his blood. A repellent was a must 24hrs!! I even got bites while sleeping with the AC on and also during the day, while the sun was out and burning you. Here in NY, the mosquitos come out just at night, so the first day we were there... oh boy...

It's not just mosquitos--they have little bloodsucking creatures that you can hardly see. Just like spring time in NH. The no-see-ums are out especially when it starts to get dark and first thing in the morning. Bring some good bug dope.

🙂 I quess locals get immune to them.

The noseeums are really annoying... beaches are where they usually are at -dusk and dawn as mentioned.

Some out door restaurants have mosquito issues, they often have Off or something you can use. I find its the ones that are around a lot of foliage that have more of the little bugs.

Noseeums?

I was just in STT two weeks ago and only saw maybe 2 or 3 mosquitos...yet my ankles were all eaten up although I didn't really notice it until I returned home a day or two later.

Oh well, I'm from the midwest where every bug bites so I'll be back. 🙂

Well, just like in New Hampsta them noseeums will eatcha just about anywhaya, ayuh. Jay, just be glad that you don't have the wretched little creatures in the midwest. In NH we have black fly season in the spring--swarms and swarms of the little b**tards, mosquitos in the summer, and at night in the summer the noseeums. BTW, noseeums are teeny tiny biting bugs that you can hardly see, but their bite is horrible, just like getting a needle jabbed into your ankle, etc. They'll wake you out of a sound sleep. They can even get through some screens to come in and bite you. Well, at least in the VI, you get some compensation for getting bit, the view.
