Teaching in STX Private Schools

Does anyone know what qualifications are required to teach in private schools?
Is a teaching certificate required?
I thought I might offer to do some substitute or part-time teaching in math, social science, and English.
Well in most places substitute teaching is not teaching. It is really putting a warm body in the classroom. Therefore the requirements are usually different.

While in grad school at Penn, I substituted in Philadelphia inner city high schools. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My wife did substitute teaching at several of the private schools with a BA but no teaching certificate. Now teaching full time at a private school with just a BA. (Also has years of teaching skills under her belt, though.)
My kids go to one of the private schools, and I was told, "Since we're private, we can pick who we like. Qualifications aren't as important". For example, I have only an Associates Degree, which kept me from subbing in Ohio. However, they told me that they'd love to have me there! I guess I would say for you to go to the school, offer to volunteer like I did to "get your foot in the door", and hope they like you. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I got a response from one private school. I'll meet them when I get to STX.
