Under the category of "Really??"
The Senate just approved borrowing $4 million to "complete" the two running tracks on Stx that are two miles from each other. I'm all for sports but... In what stateside town of 50,000 people would they borrow $4 million for TWO tracks -especially these days?
According to a track mfg's site, a hi tech new track installed is only $350 grand. http://www.unitedsportsystems.com/products.html

Still waiting for my two refunds.

.....and the $10 million Obama spent to vacation in Hawaii twice. Good luck with those refunds.

Anyone have any advice on getting through to the IRB by phone?

I called and spoke with Ms. Richardson, who was very nice as someone here said, but my problem is something she can't help me with. (Refund check was apparently mailed, but never got to me, so they need to write and send a new check... but she acted like she wasn't even sure if that would be possible...?!?!) So she told me everything would have to be dealt with by someone whose name sounds like Ms. Loubie (? Loubey?), and I cannot get her on the phone to save my life. I've called every few days, and either the operator tells me she's out of the office or she doesn't answer her phone when I'm transferred to her extension. I've left a couple of voicemails and have received no reply.

I will be visiting STX in November, so I'll stop by the office then, but really, in 2012, I should not have to deal with this crap in person, especially on my vacation. (Paper filing? Stamps? Paper checks? Really? When the rest of the country is doing e-filing and automatic bank deposits?) My money is being stolen, and it appears that there's nothing I can do about it.

I followed advice from someone who posted earlier and called IRB. Sure enough they only had a partial copy of my tax 2010. I cant figure that since I hand delivered it and had a stamped copy. After six weeks, (and me faxing a copy) I still haven't found out if they actually have all the information. Someone promises faithfully to call me back, or handle the situation. They never do.This is beyond belief. And it seems we have no recourse.

Not to mention that that ridiculous rumor about the $10 million was simply that in tabloid spades - and is such old news.

Oh, so if you have friends in high places, you can get your refund. If not, you're screwed. Typical VI. I've been trying to handle this myself and not get my lawyer involved, but it appears that it might be time for that. This is ridiculous.

🙂 That's encouraging! So I guess they really are cutting some checks.

What I meant to say is.... the VI government sold 146 million dollars in bonds in early September and the funds were supposed to be released on the 13th of this month. They say it was to go to various things, including tax refunds.

I don't usually ask everyone I know whether or not they got their tax refunds but a couple of friends have mentioned in the last month or so that they've received their 2011 refunds. They're nobody special with "friends in high places" as an earlier poster mentioned was key (!). On the other hand, another friend told me a couple of days ago that she got a rather nasty form letter from the IRB alleging that she owed a whole bunch. Turned out that she entered a wrong amount in the wrong column which raised a red flag so now she has to get that sorted out and in the meantime she won't be getting that refund.

I'm guessing that most of these returns are processed automatically and that if you make one small error or do anything that glitches up the works it then goes into the manual pile which takes forever to get sorted out. What a pistarckle.

I received my 2010 refund yesterday. I filed in May of 2010. I had to wait for my Dec. born son's ssn to file, and yes, it took 5 months to get it!!! His birth certificate was mis-typed twice, and couldn't apply for ssn until we had that all straight.

stjohnjulie points out one of the problems with the VI IRB.... they don't always INPUT your info correctly.

In 2009 THEY mis-typed one of my kid's SS #'s ...which was typed on the form.
They sent me a letter asking for a correction, and I pointed out their mistake. Got the refund soon after that.

On my 2010 return, I made a deduction error (duh), they caught it, but they never notified me that they had side-tracked the return pending clarification. I found out by going down there.
