tax refund checks

I called the local IRS and of course they have no customer service. I was told that IRS processes the returns and Department of FInance mails them out. I called Finance & was told some checks were already sent out. I filed in early February and I am STILL without my check :X I really wish I filed for TX.

It's still early - the last four years ours usually arrives mid to late August

I hope you mean the local tax collection agency -- the IRB -- when you say you called the IRS -- does the IRS have a federal office here is a good question. Finance does have the final say on check issuing so keep checking there but don't expect expedient response -- if you live in the VI 183 days a year you wouldn't file in Texas anyway.

May take awhile as the cops have been pulling over motorists looking for $$.
It took the officer 5 minutes to come up with a valid reason for stropping my wife last week.

I can't understand with all the people driving recklessly, crackheads aplenty & theft all around, why doesn't the police ever do it's job unless called to do so?

Traffic stops are a good way to find bad guys. They have to travel too.

I hear that there are auditors from the IRS here and going over the books.....Definately a possibility considering the recent theft of funds from IRB.....

On my 2008 taxes I did part year states and part year here. I got a $600 stimulous fm the states and was not supposed to so I sent it back. I went to IRB and they told me it was supposed to come from IRS.....I argued a bit, showed them why it was their responsibility and after they finished not listening, I left and just wrote it off....Not that big a deal.

So, this week I not only get my 09' refund, but an amended 1040 from 2008 stating I am owed "$600' because I never received my stimulous check...(whod' a thunk)...Just sign the bottom and send it in and you will be issued the money owed to you.

Anyway, thats $600 that will be squandered on something stupid since I never expected to see it again. No interest of course....because its apparently my fault......Life goes on.....;)

I filed in early March, got a letter early May noting that my return was missing a form.
Took the form over that day and got right in.
While there, I asked about checks. The lady just rolled her eyes.

As I sat in her ofice, I was a bit surprised how casual the returns were filed in big folders.
At first she looked for mine amid folders on her desk, then opened a big drawer and pulled out another fat folder, thumbed through, and found mine. Seemed very "pre-computer."

Maybe the Federal IRS officers were there to help them automate their system.
Probably not.

I got my check 2 days ago 😀 I still find it ridiculous that I had to wait about 4 months to get it. We've got to do better!

Received a letter informing me that my name and SS number didn't match and no wonder they had spelled my name wrong !!!!!!

I filed on April 13. I wonder when I'll get my refund. August? Later?

i also filed around the 13th of April. I did the same last year and got my return at end of July or early August i think.

Something similar happened to me two years ago. They made a typing error when they 'input' my dependent daughter's SS number. Then when the computer said her number and name didn't match, they issued me a letter. Had they compared their input to what I had submitted, they would have caught their own mistake.

Consider yourself an unbonafide resident and file your Fed return in Austin....refund in 3 weeks...in the bank!
