http://69.56.197.242/book.html That'll take you to the VI phone book's Yellow Pages, in the Tattoo section. Every time I've walked in to either of them, they were always working.
Cost of living here is high for some things, cheap for others. Milk: $6/gal.....Rum: $3/bottle...ever had rum and Corn Flakes? Not too bad! Haha!

Hi, I was just wondering if you know whether or not Jimmy Buffham's does body piercings? I am looking to get my eyebrow pierced and looking for a very clean, reputable place, anyone have any suggestion for a place on STT, St. John or Tortola even?
Yes, Jimmy or Gail do piercings and run a VERY clean shop.
Remember, no alcohol before your piercing!
Jimmy Buffham Tattoo shop actual does a great job on body piercings. I pierced my belly button there it cost $65 at the time but sometimes they drop the prices for a few days or a week to like $35. It pinched just for a sec and that was it the even give up dr. recommended ways to treat ur piercings mine healed in 4 months which is quite short for a belly ring all because i followed the instructions just as they were explained to me. If u want a piercing other than the ear go to Jimmy. I also did my cartilage (top of ear) there. The ppl are friendly and give great service it's the only liscensed tattoo parlor on stt right now and they run a clean shop. Check them out it's worth it.
are tattooed individuals frowned upon in STX? my girlfriend and i are both heavily tattooed and are moving there in 3 weeks. just wondering what sort of response to expect.
Wouldn't be frowned upon on STT so I doubt the reaction would be different on STX.
Some of the higher end hotels will be hesitant to hire if your tats are highly visible or risque.
With hovensa here? Lots of tattos here too. You won't see many islanders with lots of tattos but its not uncommon to see relocatees with tattos. You know the saying about the goods being odd and all that. J.K. Its pretty much normal stateside, no ones going to blink much of an eye here unless your talking about something more extensive then sleeves....If you have face tattos and large piercings, well people might stare anywhere.
No one wants to work for the hotels here.
Some of the retail shops might ask you to cover if employed & others don't mind.
As others on the board say, it's like the states & it's accepted.
No to mention we wear shorts & t's yr round, so you can show off your boday art.
I do admire good work, so forgive me if I stare...........I'll only be checking the ink 🙂
thanks for all the feedback......just trying to get a feel for what to expect.
Hey Betty, watch it! LOL. Some of us earn a pretty good living working at the hotels.
I have found it to be quite to the contrary. I had a young couple stay with me for a few weeks before they decided to go back to California. He was a tattoo artist as well and worked with Jimmy Buffam in his shop. He was to help Jimmy and maybe take over to give Jimmy a break. He and the wife were heavily tattooed and some piercings. He told me that some 'dollar rides' refused to give him a ride, as if he was a freak or something. The fait de acompli was when they tried to rent a house on Water Island, they told the owner they had a small child, she said okay. He took out his piercings, buttoned up and long sleeved and they went to see the place. As she saw them she quickly said, no kids, even though on the phone it was okay! They were the nicest couple and the kid was well behaved. I know of a lawyer too that had to cover up to work. Wish all goes well for you guys in STX.
