T MOBILE (SPRINT)
Anyone have T Mobile on STX
I heard from a few tourists and few months ago that it worked as good a A T & T with the same dead spots.
I asked one if it worked in the Cane Bay area and they were not sure.
Anyone out there have any experience with this service ?
It is 1/2 the price I'm now paying for 2 A T & T lines
Thanks

Its a good question and I'm interested too. Since ATT sold us out to Liberty, I've not been happy with the service and want to switch to another provider. I almost went into a T-Mobile store when I was in Ft. Lauderdale a week ago. I'm a VIYA hater so I'd never use them.
I'm with you on VIYA.
I'm tired of paying the high rates for ATT and then the service stinks not to mention their customer service attitude.
That goes for STX and also the mainland
If I can get some T-Mobile service in the Cane Bay area I'm switching for sure.
We do not live on island but have Sprint SIM cards, have not switched to TMobile yet. when we were there on vacation we got service most places on the island except far east or on the beach. no service directly on cane bay beach but general area we did have service.
not sure if you're using a tmobile sim card but would assume it would be similar if not better considering they have bought the sprint towers.
I use Consumer Cellular which had been using AT&T towers in the VI. I asked them a few weeks ago and they told me they still use AT&T towers. But someone else said they were told they are now using T Mobile towers. So I'm not sure which they are using and need to get around and check current coverage. When I previously had AT&T I didn't get a signal at Cane Bay Beach either.
We have both AT&T (work phone) and T-Mobile (wife’s phone). We live east of Christiansted (not far from Cheeseburgers in Paradise). Overall the AT&T coverage on STX is better but both are far from perfect. One thing that might help with T-Mobile (in your home if the coverage is marginal) is something called a femtocell that’s available directly from T-Mobile, I believe at no or very minimal cost. It’s essentially a mini cell tower in your house and connects to your router. It works great, we have them in 2 houses with one going back almost 10 years with no problems. We’ve had a T-Mobile family plan for 20+ years (5 phones for less than $175 a month…..we’re still paying for our adult children’s phones….such is life) and have no real complaints.
Im not a Google fan but have to give credit to Google Fi (their cell service). When I was in STX had great coverage. They use Tmobile towers and might be cheaper than Tmobile itself. Check it out.
Not to hijack the thread, but I moved here permanently last year and thought they changed my address as it was difficult due to the fact the VI doesn't have street addresses everywhere. The reason I did this was to stop paying NY taxes on each line which is about a $10 total per month. So I never look at my bill unless there's a difference in total. Today I just wanted to check on my remaining phone payments and realized I'm still paying NY taxes. I called Liberty and she stated that only my billing address was changed, not my primary use address. I know that it was supposed to be changed last year, so she attempted to use my St. Croix address and obviously it didn't work, so we tried a different way and she had to change all four lines. After 30 plus minutes they are supposedly changed and hopefully it will be less. LOL In NY, there's state, county, and 3 other taxes they put on the line. Now I have to wait to see what the difference is and then request a credit for 12 months. She offered me a $20 credit, I'm hoping for more. Roll the dice....
I tried telling her since my primary use is in NY you don't own my contract, that unfortunately didn't work.
If you have Wi-Fi go to the Phone Setting and turn on the 'WI-FI CALLING"
This helps a lot in bad cell service areas if you have Wi-Fi
I use this all the time.
I'm still interested to hear from anyone with T-Mobile on STX
Our place is in La Vallee we have T-mobile service on the hill. but it runs in and out along the North Shore like most of the Island it depends on the hills.
Our place near Union & Mt. Washington has virtually no T-Mobile reception. It’s generally spotty on the East End. The WiFi calling does work well.
Thanks for the feed back
