SUV or Car

I was wondering whether an SUV would be a better choice driving in St. Thomas. I visited during a tropical storm and the idea occurred to me that regular cars might incur difficulty on some roads. Right now I have an Acura CL . . . . but I am wondering whether this car is a good choice for the island?

Some people recommend a truck/jeep/SUV, but there are an awful lot of cars on this island. I would say more cars that SUV's. I owned a car when I first got here and never had a problem. It was a little K-car w/ front whel drive. It got around great. Of course, now I don't own a car at all...just mortorcycles, but that's the guy thing in me. 🙂

Hello,

A car is fine for almost everywhere. I think it’s a matter of preference rather than necessity, even with the hills on the island.

It all depends on where you want to go. I hate to feel limited on where I can go so I got an SUV. Glad a did. We've gone to a couple of garage sales and there way no way a car could make it down these roads. But if your car is paid for, then bring it over. I'm sure you will be just fine. Just avoid havensight after the rain. It will come into your car door. It gets crazy floods in that area, and a few other area as well.
