surfing
Hi
My wife and I are moving to St Thomas in June. I am wondering if there is anywhere to surf on the island? If so where are the best spots? Is it possible to rent boards?
Thanks
From what i have heard, there is a little bit of surfing on the VI but it pales in comparison to the hawaii islands. There are some surfers on St. John(where I live) and I have heard surfers talk about cinnamon bay and reef bay, depends on the wind as to which spots are good and when. I know you can rent wind boards on cinnamon but i dont know about straight up surf boards. Hope I helped.
I know that in Hull Bay i see quite a few surfers. Indeed, sometimes it looks a little crowded. 8-10 surfers at a time. Hmm, perhaps they may not even appreciate my telling you about it. Oh well, hope I haven't violated any surfer code of ethics.
Don't know anywhere that provides board rental service.
Hi,
There is a surfing Q&A section on this web site 🙂
http://vinow.com/general_usvi/more_info/surfing/
Should answer some of your questions about when, what locations, type of waves..
Only place I know of that offer wind surf, surfng, kite boarding stuff is West Indies Windsurfing at (340)7756530
Onika - OH MY you gave out THE-SPOT... LOL. 🙂 Actually Caret Bay (opps) is where some surfers wont mention but is a good spot. Harder to get to though and not a good idea to go alone, not that its a good idea to surf alone anyway.
Hope that helps.

Also, in June, there won't be much surfing unless there is a little tropical disturbance heating things up. Most of the surfing occurs in the winter with the north Atlantic storms churning up the seas into big swells! Cowabunga!
