I have heard that it happens usually with big dogs, Great Danes are especially prone to this.

trw, the intestine flip thing happened to my sister's dog a few years ago. That was the first time I'd heard of it and it happenend exactly as you described. It was tragic. The sad thing....they saw the exact moment it happened, Abbie went out to "piddle" and suddenly just stopped in mid-step and had a painful look on her face. From that point on it was down hill and a rapid decent. Very, very sad. Bless her heart.... and kidneys, too.

It's called Colic, The dog could get it from eating to much grass, certain food. The gas caused from what they ate make the animal push and at times this will twist the intestine. More common in horses.

You are right Lizard. It happened to one of our Rotties. I rushed her to the animal hospital and a new vet just hired saved her life. The other vets at the hospital didn't think she could be saved but the new one wanted to try. I later became friends with the young vet and was amazed that she never gave up when all the older vets did.

We are gearing up to come home. Hubby has been busy loading a container full of solar panels, batteries and new windows. I get to fill in all the empty spaces with things I want to bring. I am also trying to get taxes done and refi our house before we leave. Way too much to do. I haven't told JJ an exact date in case we get delayed once again. I promised him that we would go crab hunting on the way home from the airport.

The animal abuse case crashed & burned............:X:X:X:X:X
I wish every abuser would be on the receiving end for a change! I'm so angry how things are just brushed to the side and accepted here!
It starts with harming an innocent animal (who only knows UNCONDITIONAL LOVE).......then next thing you know the kids are being beaten & women are sexually assaulted, treated like punching bags............more important to chalk tires & write friggin parking tickets :-X

In the states & other parts of the world, animal cruelty is a warning sign of bigger badder things to come.
Down here, animals are just nothing more than a possession.......or an object for fighting & making money. West Indies do not realize they (animals) have emotions & feel physical pain. Animals are like water bottles............throw them to the curb when you no longer want them........:-X

well good ol STX has managed to eat 2 more people, the singing corpse is going back to the states to kick his heroin addiction,he started on oxycotton and his doc found out he was abusing it and cut him so he started in on the heroin, and the other one almost died of alcohol poisoning, got off work today and went and bought a phone at radio shack, then took the 2.50 cab to grove and then hitchiked over the beast and over to the house, only took me one ride to get from grove to the house, the ex or other half or whatever he has has this computer so screwed up i'm going to have to take it somewhere to get it all straightened out

If anyone missed it, rent "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" from Netflix or Blockbuster. Great documentary.
