Tam, you're going to have to plan a special Valentine's party for yourselves to celebrate homecoming.

Yeah I heard them too. I'm in Hermon Hill....heard them for quite awhile. Don't know what was going on, though...

I J, I'm in Hermon Hill too. I heard the gunfire first. About 10 shots steady. Then the sirens. I thought it was coming from that area. I knew someone would know. With a little humor as well....gotta tell hubby that one.

Thanks Troy.

It's in today's Avis. 20 yr old Canadian wanted in the mainland for drugs, shot and killed in the vicinity of the Moravian Cemetery in C'sted around 8:45pm. Apparent dispute over an illegal drug transaction.

We went for sushi last night (OMG Good!), and we were walking around town about 7:30 PM. My husband made the comment that it was such a lovely downtown and what a shame there weren't any people out and about. I said most people are afraid to walk around here at night, and he said it sure seemed pretty safe to him........Seems we were about an hour early and four blocks away from the event!

My husband just corrected me about where the cemetery is located, so I guess we were further than four blocks, but STILL too close for my taste.

Juanita, this happened Monday night. But lately it seems like this kind of thing can happen anywhere, anytime, no way to know when or where it will happen. It's like the Wild West. (I say that because the shooting in Lorraine Village involved something like 10 dudes in the back of a truck, firing indiscriminately, killing one and injuring 5!)

Got 2 inches of snow then 1 inch of ice on top of that last night. The kids have off from school, my wife was off anyway, but I had to go to work 🙁 I really wanted to stay home and play with the kids and dogs in the snow, but someone values there job! LOL

Have a great day everyone!

Mike

I am sad to hear that Hovensa is laying off. I hope none of my friends have to leave the island.

IF Hovensa is really doing a BIG lay off that is going to be very very bad for the island. Normally, after all the holidays about late Jan to Feb all the contrators start to hire back all the guys that went home for vacations when they get "laid off " in December. Between Hovensa and its contractors we get alot of well paid workers who spend ALOT of money here. The rent, they buy cars, groceries, etc... on and on.

This will have a big effect on the economy.

I really hope someone just didnt start an ugly rumor.
