3 books in a day . . I am envious! I drove 4 hours to arrive in the middle of no where Virginia.

TRW . . . what ever happened with your plans of moving to STT for awhile?

I do miss my house on STX. Today, Thursday, On STX, I would have woke at 7 because the sun was so bright and birds so happy (I woke at 8 because of the beep, beep of the trash truck), I would have had 2 cups of coffee sitting on the back deck looking at the ocean (I had 2 cups of coffee at the kitchen island checking email for work). I would have eaten breakfast (I did not eat anything for breakfast). I would have worked a couple hours on the laptop while peeking at the view, watching the geckos, listening to the sounds of nature around me and enjoying the breeze (I worked a couple hours and occasionally petted a cat . . . I do miss my kitties while on STX) I would have checked on what BF was doing and see if I could lend a quick hand (I ran to the office to print BF a letter he wanted before I left). I would have made us lunch (I had nothing for lunch, I was running late to pick up the rental car to drive 4 hours to VA). I would have eaten lunch and cleaned up (I drove). I would have work a little more (I drove), I would have lent another helping hand, or ran to the PO, or K Mart, or the hardware store or Plaza or taken a quick dip (I drove) I would have checked emails again ( I was actually non-stop on my Blackberry the whole drive ... not safe). I would have shut down the laptop (I checked into the hotel). I would have made dinner or help make dinner ( I found someone I knew well and went out to dinner with him). I would have cleaned up dinner mess (I checked work emails and then personal emails). I would have watched tv with BF and no laptop (tv was on as background noise while I worked and played on laptop - no nice breeze or frog & cricket sounds). I would have been asleep soundly by 11 (I am still on the laptop).
Even while working there it's just better.

Wheelchair guy always asks for a cigarette. I don't smoke. Maybe someday he will know I won't have one.

In the mornings when he swears, it travels through the streets.

Wheelchair guy has a name.......Keith.
2 yrs ago he got hit by a car I think on Strand St. After being the hospital for the longest time he returned to the streets of C'sted.
First he hobbled on crutches & then someone got him a chair. Tho the ace band aide has been on his foot now well over a yr, I think between that & the chair makes for better pan handling. When medicated properly, the wild cursing is under control..........but something tells me hes miller-cated & not medicated!!!! He used to help some of the shop keepers on Strand St.............but now I just see him hanging at Fongs by day & the web cam by night. All in all he is harmless.
My fav bum is Richie..............he has style & if he could clean his act up............look out project runway - HA! Too bad he lost his pink fuzzy hat a year or so, that thing cracked me up!!!
Mr 2 dollars..........I forget his name, a couple yrs ago they made t-shirts & sold them at the St Pattys parade....It became a talk show hit with ole Roger Morgan. Now thats one big stick that stirs up a lot of stink here..............lol.
I think the scariest bum was a lady that bused over from F'sted.........toothless hag.........CRAZY to the BONE! She mumble incoherently & then whine & coming at you arms wide open.............look out, she'll pick pocket ya as you try to peel her off. Lucky I move fast & side stepped her & yelled NO!
Some go quietly, others I've yelled at & chased away with a broom! Used to p-me off when they'd (the bums) try & hit up the taxi passengers across frm govt house, so I would send em packing!!!
AaaahhhhhhhHHHH The joys of retail in C'sted.................maybe I should look into working retail in town again????

I met the toothless lady last week at the ATM at the First Bank. She gave me her tearfull pitch about no food and the govt. won't help and the shelter is closed. I offered to take her across the street and buy her some food, she said no she needs money. I said food or nothing. She got all abusive and loud so I went back to my car, she followed and continued. I shut the door and rolled up the window and she spat at the window. She's nuts.
Tipod isn't to bad unless he's really high. He used to beg from me 2 - 3 times a week untill I told him he only gets $1 from me a week, so now when I see him he just says good afternoon.
It's sad that this has to happen in America's Paradise.

Our wheelchair guy hung out by Wendy's. The Methodist Outreach Center offered him a free bed to which he replied that where he came from, it was freezing, and he would prefer to stay outside in the warm streets! Soon after he seemed to have lost, or misplaced his chair, and was sitting on a folding chair. Had not seen him for some time so it could be him.

Nay............Keith has been here 4-eva
There was a bum in STT..........white guy w/dirty blonde dreads. Hung out in the Charotte Amalie district.............one minute he'd be chatting w/shop keepers & next he'd be begging for money. Every week when I flew over there, he'd hit me up for a couple dollars thinking I was a tourist......offered him my granola & yogurt, amazing how the hungry aren't so when food is flashed infront of them - HA!

Lucky for you it's so expensive to get there. Your guys are either homegrown or fell off the wagon after getting there.
Here in AZ we get way too many during the winter because they can either hitch hike or save up for bus fare to get here.

You think so? The families of these people send them here! At least the ones that aren't homegrown, but even then I wonder.

YOU KNOW......

It's much easier readin for us Wisconsinites when you tell us about slow service, pain in the but tourist, mulitple trips to any and every agency that has to be dealt with, and the general frustrations of Island living 😉

BUT.....

It's sure nice to get some validation that it might be worth it to give up all of our security (and STUFF) for a caribbean life! 😎
