I doubt you'd be the first. Relationships, real ones, are so difficult. You want to be part of something but you can't forget the "I". Keep that part strong and let it resolve it's self. In the end the "I "will be content and you won't be so damaged.

I haven't been posting much but check in from time to time to see how things are going on the island. While I pretty much keep to myself I adore people. I love diversity and enjoy learning other cultures, opinions of others, and how people think. It is facinating and in my opinion vital to personal growth. I am a self described sap so I guess it should be no surprise to me how disturbed I feel reading this message board lately. I feel so shocked and dismayed at the level of nastiness shown during discussions and differing opinions. The lack of respect amazes me. Why would anyone try to force their beliefs on someone else is beyond me. What a boring world this would be if we all fit in the same little box. I guess that is why we still have wars and so many atrocities committed against mankind. As for me, I am going to put my blinders back on or stick my head in the sand or whatever it is that I do and keep believing that most people are good and kind to others. Silly me.:-(

well Tam believers are believers,non believers are non believers the 2 shall never meet as far as i'm concerned,then you have people like me who believe in god or a higher power but do not believe in any form of organized religion,but recognize it for the evil it is,the pot thing,legalize it tax it and be done with it,the avis thing call the aclu in puerto rico to see what they have to say,they should know,it's what they do,i find it's difficult to sway people on certain issues,especially as they get older and so the sniping,i find indifference to be a useful tool at times

Anytime you talk religion and politics people fight. Thats why its considered impolite to talk about it with strangers, at least that's how it is in the south. So you've got to expect people to fight or at least be snarky and gang up on each other. Just watch a polictal round table show and its the same thing. So I'm not shocked by the behavior nor do I think it shows we're all base evil beings, just human. All in all passion is good especially about the important things. The problem is the "important thing" is different to everyone.

When it comes to the actual relocating questions I think we're all pretty friendly and helpful. Its the best source of info out there on the islands. I don't even read half of the threads on this board anymore because they have little to do with relocating or living here IMO.

When you're feeling like the board is going down the tubes the best thing to do is take a break from it. I mean there's only so many times you can answer how do you ship a car here without wanting to hurt someone. 😉 And yes I know that's the purpose of the board.

I've only been here a short while and find the religion threads distracting and not what I thought this BB was about. Now I can see better why these post arise. Boredom with same old same old.

I wish this board had the ignore feature so I could block seeing those thread since I don't have enough self control not to click on them LOL.

so a couple of nights ago betty i had a dream about you and linda j,i was waiting on you at the cafe and you were sitting at table 2 and then i woke up screaming so i have no idea how it ended,hahahaha and then last night i dreamt that i was driving from antilles school to downtown and you know how curvy that road is and it was raining and the windows were all fogged up and the headlights went out and there was something in the backseat trying to cover my eyes and force me off the road and i had passed a couple of cops that had pulled someone over,that one really woke me up,i had to read for about an hour before i tried to go back to sleep,so as not to pick up where i left off

so i was just yelling on the phone to my old drug dealer to find out and kill whomever broke into the house the other night, this poor guy can only say ok trw ok trw cause i yell and carry on so much,lol i feel bad for the dude, cause i do shriek and scream at times,but the hell with it,do what i tell you to do

I taught JJ how to use a sling shot this evening. He is amazingly proficient with it. I was so tickled. It is one of my favorite things to do. Hubby has forbidden me to teach him how to make fire but I think he is ready.

I lived in the south most of my life and Betty is right. Asking personal questions or discussing politics or religion or, god forbid (if you believe in such) sexual orientation with strangers was just not done. So in this area I am definitely "don't ask, don't tell. PLEASE, don't tell!

As far as ingoring posts go, I do it all the time, just don't read them.

and linda i agree with you about politics and religion,but not about the sex stuff,lol i want to know who does what to whom,when and how often,and you wouldn't believe the stuff i hear,people love to "confess",i heard about the new f and b at the bucc,she's the reason i left zebos,pretentious and awful to work for,good luck with that one,and someone went up to jane kendrick on fri night at zebos for a bday party for choquette and said "i'm sorry to hear you're closing" KENDRICKS IS NOT CLOSING, she got pretty upset and i heard that frank and katherine signed a lease for the cane bay beach bar,he's going to do upscale pizza and pasta,he's up in the states now buying some equipment and my old dealer found out who was in my house and took a hammer to his hands,lol it's nice to have friends
