Yay! The haze has finally lifted and the sky is looking blue this morning and the beautiful colors have returned to the ocean.
I thought I was in hazy Ohio these past two weeks.

IMHO, some of these restaurant deserved to fail.
You can't charge $10 for a burger then cook the crap out of it and serve it 25 minutes later and expect me to come back.
And when I go to a restaurant, I want to talk with friends, not get blasted by a band with hearing loss.
If I want loud music, I'll just roll down my window at a traffic light, thank you. 😎

well it just tried to rain downtown here, feels like another muggy day,my cabdriver said it going to be a stormy season because it's so hot already, who knows, you really hasve to commend the guy on STT that took the 12lb lobster he caught to coral world instead of eating it,on the back page of the daily news today theres a picture of a high school kid that is going to the U of Minnesota at Crookston,LOL that kid is really in for a rude awakening,i lived in that area for about 15 years and we're talking 40 below zero winters and 60 below windchills, snow as high as a house, but in the spring summer and fall that area is truly beautiful, forests and rolling farmlands, rivers.I see upchuck hansen got off with probation and community service, how nice for her

today i get to play kitchen helper/bartender and waiter,i really like my job,the place is small enough that one person can do many things,i'm doing a long double today,my homeless guy(off and on shoe guy) is missing,i've not seen him for about a week now and i'm starting to worry alittle,he was really drunk at the last jump up and was trying to dance in the street but his movements were really jerky like he was being electrocuted so i sat him on the church steps and fed him and then he passed out,lol poor thing, some of the long term homeless and really starting to age, grey hair and 3 of them are using canes or sticks to walk with.

Community service for Chuckie is scary. Her idea of community service is the community lining her purse.

busy at work today,no cruise ship people just everyone else and they all wanted to eat in the AC and not sweat over their food, lol,a friend of mine is a delegate and he voted yes on the constitution and i asked him why because he is against all the native stuff even though he's a long time crucian,he told me nothing will ever get accomplished as long as roker, emmanuel, adelbert, moorhead and monsanto are involved so it made more sense to pass it and let the president and the congress deal with it,they can take out all the bad stuff and send it back here for the vote,he also said giving them more money would be a waste until the document comes back from congress because no one knows what congress will do with it,he suggested we email the president but only if we are registed voters down here

we had a great rain in lavallee/canebay this morning, rained hard for about 20 minutes, the ex is getting 8 years worth of taxes back finally so today he's going to catch up the mortgage,he had a stateside IRS agent down here do 8 years worth of taxes and she sent them to austin texas instead of the local irb and they said he'd have about 10 grand back in 45 days or so,so far he's gotten 4 0f 8 checks, lol one a day so far,i asked him to buy a lawnmower so we don't have to pay a service anymore,oh and he's getting 600 in stimulus money,my taxes however are much more complicated because it involves the feds,2 states, and 2 local city governments.

rained off and on all day yesterday up in lavallee, got picked up today by a guy that works alot with the ag department and he told me to get ahold of dr.zimmerman out at the U and he could help me with papaya varieties apparently he developed one that only grows to about 6 feet and i could probally get free seed, and then i need to go to ag and apply for a farming licencse(sp) and then i'd get a break on my property taxes somewhere down the road,it's not that big a deal they're under a 1000 a year anyway. Back in 2000 we bought a new generator and brought it down, started it up once and then put it in the shed, well when chris the fat thief lived with us you know the one from my roommate stories he took it upon himself to take the thing down to cane bay where he was cooking at the time and then he and the bar owner proceeded to fry the thing so he brought it back home and put it back in the shed and neither he nor the bar owner, the one that hires ex strippers, ever offered to fix or replace the thing and i just found all this out yesterday and i'm really quite irritated about it,lol i just asked the ex if he used it during omar and the tail came pouring out so of course i went on a screaming tantrum fit and just generally made life unpleasant until he went to work, lol and hour early i might add, i mean really the ex spends alot of money in this bar which pisses me off even more so i told him if he did not address this issue with the bar owner i would and it would not be pretty and then i find out a couple of days ago that my last surviving friend from the 80's and early 90's has hiv,i made the mistake of googling her name and up it came, lol and the survivors guilt thing just wants to rear it's ugly head and send me overboard, won't happen of course but it's there lurking in the background,oh well.

Hubby is finally home again. 5 weeks in the states 2 weeks here back to the states for a week.

JJs last day of school. He is devastated. Loves school, the teachers, the playmates, the girls, especially the girls. He came home with a backpack full of hearts and I love you's from all the little girls. He's five. Five years old. I mean he is still a baby. Well he still wants to sleep in my bed every night and drinks his nighttime milk from a sippy cup so I guess I shouldn't worry too much. I am really going to have to see what he is watching on TV. He hardly ever watches TV except Discovery or How it is made with his Dad. Major sigh!!

We had good rain here in Cotton, desert, valley, but not nearly the rain center island and west end got. I am not complaining but we could use more. The bush has died back so much that I see houses I never knew existed. I can even see Buck Island. Maybe I should sell the house now with a Buck Island view.

Loving the rain on the east end this morning. Really good rain.

I found a journal this morning that I wrote 3 years ago when we first came here. I had forgotten about it. Wow, I was so scared. The most amazing thing is that not too much has changed. We are still working on the house, we still don't take enough time off, I still fight keeping dust out of the house and JJ is loving his island more than ever. It is like he is a plant that can only thrive on this island and if you take him away he wilts.

Tami, It's funny how some things stay the same amongst all the change. I've never lived in a house that was completely finished. My grandson is 4 and we have a ball here playing and swimming, it's a great place for young kids. When my youngest son was having trouble in High school in Maine we brought him down here to attend Academy of the West Indies. With the small classes and attention he got straightened out and graduated and went on to college. Now he's has been back here for 4 years, it's his place. The same for me when I first vacationed here many years ago. That first visit I knew someday I would live and work here.

LOL, Bombi. I too have never lived in a house that was finished. When hubby and I bought the house here we had a home inspection. We were tickled pink to find that the only problem was a broken window crank. We laugh now that we were taken in hook line and sinker. Previous owners even had cookies baking in the oven when we arrived. We were so happy to be able to move into a house that did not need major work only to find that this house needed more work than any other house we had ever lived in. I think I should start my own home inspection business here on the island. I know what to look for now. The good news is that we brought a container full of tools with us and it is a good thing because repair cost are so high on this island. The other good news is that I have learned all sorts of new skills repairing this house. So far I have learned how to tape and recoat a roof, fix cracks in a cistern and replace windows that were concreted in. After we finish installing 32 new windows I will learn to install and set up a complete solar system. Oh forgot. First we have to figure out what is going on with our crazy wiring.
