New coffee shop is Polly's........supposed to rival Starbucks?
Since I'm east, doubtful I'll check it out. However I hope they do well & Yeah to another new business trying in these times!
And this was the WORST Jump Up ever!!! The poor shops on Company street could have used the company.
Kudos to the kids playing steel pan in front of Govt House..........they were nothing short of AWESOME! They were so festive & the band director was bouncing to the beat......I too was grooving!!! The Heritage Dancers were fun to watch as well. Still the crowd was small and many shops didn't see the registers ringing.

TRW - What are the Governors powers any way?? It seems he's just a figure head & that our senators make or break the island??
Perhaps we need to downsize the number senators and make them less controlling *-)

hey trw... bookmark his administration's web site - that way at least u will know.

issues & features: http://www.governordejongh.com/features/index.html

archive of news & releases: http://www.governordejongh.com/news/index.htm

i think he's had a lot to do as our economy was left with a lot of debt and the human and physical infrastructures were not well. i don't think he can get everything done in one term, but i do believe he is trying.

Want to send props to the St. Croix Foundation for their quick response to a recent request.

I emailed them this photo of the "Pride in St Croix" sign that's been an eyesore for some time on the Eastend road by Schooners Market.
The Pride sign was literally falling apart, .....except for the part of the sign that said "Pride in St. Croix" and "St Croix Foundation." 😮

I emailed the photo to the Foundation and received a very QUICK and nice response from both the secretary and President.
They told me that the sign was erected by a now defunct group that worked in the area once upon a time.

The next day they had removed the sign from the board, and said the board would soon be removed as well.
They also said they are working with new groups in the area to improve the area.

thanks A davis, and thank you whomever for all this glorious rain, irealize the gov had 8 years worth of craft corruption and scandal left over from the doddering old fools administration and i realized that change comes in very slow increments and then when i read todays paper and see that kendall gave miller probation i just want to pull my hair out ,lol well i can't do that cause i shaved my head last week, i still say both miller and turnbull need to charged with negligent homicide,it just gets so frustrating at times

hey i have a favor to ask from the men out there or thier wives and girlfriends, some of the homeless guys downtown really need clothing,a few of them are wearing rags, the church feeds them but does not give them clothing,if anyone would like to bring used clothing to me at the cafe i'll see that it gets handed out to the ones that really need it,2 of the guys are really skinny,i'm thinking an under 30 waist ,and a couple are big like an over 40 waist,i dunno to me it's a matter of dignity, clean clothes make me feel good maybe it'll help these guys as well, who knows,i only had a few shirts to get rid of and my roommate refused to help me at all. Thanks, Troy

Yeah the guy who talks to himself & wears his shoes 1/2 on & 1/2 off, his red t-shirt & light colored shorts are really dirty!
I wish we had some sort of homeless shelter so they could bathe, get fresh clothes, a bed to sleep in and off the streets!
There's a lady from F'sted whom has been trolling the C'sted streets & she's a menace!!! Comes INTO the shops clinging to the tourist pleading she is sooooooooo hungry & demanding money. Just try & chase her off........man what a potty mouth & she gets violent 😮
The police all know who she is & just allow this to continue *sigh*

I've felt guilty for a couple of years about her. We were in Singh's for lunch and she came in and started up with the hungry, etc., so my husband gave them $5.00 and said to give her whatever plate of food that would buy. Well....she wanted fish, and that wasn't enough to buy fish. She got rather belligerent, and we did not give any more money, and the restaurant wouldn't "upgrade" her. (I don't blame them!) So, she got chicken and rice or whatever. I've often thought we would not even have noticed giving another 3.00, or however much, and she would have had what she wanted. After all, she's obviously crazy, she's human too, and we don't have any idea what her story is. We've know some real characters over the years of living in the islands. Most are the way they are because of rum or drugs, but not all.

We had a run in with this lady on the boardwalk just a couple of weeks ago, she said she needed money that she was hungry. We had just came back from a sunset cruise with some friends so we offered her some snacks that we had left over. She didn't want that she wanted money. She wanted $20. We told her we didn't have any money, she looked at us and said we were Full Of Shit. Nice lady. LOL!
I feel bad for her but she wants money to buy drugs or alcohol. Sorry, I don't support anybody's habit.

She's always hanging out by the ATM near Scotia and First Bank. Avoid her. She spits at you if you don't give her anything.

ive seen that woman too, you can tell by looking in her eyes that she is off a bit. never had a run in with her. richard seems ok/ kieth is a nice guy too but sometimes he hasnt had his meds and gets on his tourettes kick and spouts off bad things and he is grateful for anything you give him. there are a few guys who smell in need of a shower really really bad. i heard at one time kieth was a teacher. someone even said that during one of his tourettes kicks he was yelling about someone not getting good enough grades on thier sats. dale who used to live downtown was a very nice guy but i heard he went to the states for treatment. everyone of them is human and should be treated as such. we dont know their story or what brought them to the streets.
i had thought that there was a place in town for them to get a shower and a fresh set of clothes??
