Just realized how badly I need to shave my legs, LOL. Sorry guys! I was about to take a shower last evening outdoors but saw the neighbors were enjoying a cocktail on their gallery watching the setting sun . . . decided me naked just 100 feet away was too strange even though I know they really could not see me behind the slatted walls and extra curtain. The only place on the property that I can see them is at the outdoor shower . . . makes you wonder about the person who installed the shower *-) Tso I took a shower in the house instead but decided cleaning the tub after shaving was more than I was willing to do . . .the legs could wait another day. At least I do not have serious plans to hit the beach today . . should, but won't. Tomorrow hoping to gi to Annaly Bay with a local guide, he offered as long as he did not have reservations with guests come up. Never been there, it's been on my wish list though.

We are having a little sprinkle of rain but not enough to do anything. It seems all the bugs and iguanas are coming out of the bush looking for water. No centipeds in the house but I have seen a few outside. Last evening I was sittlng on the porch and reached for my drink just in time to see a big cockroach crawling into the can. Thank God I saw it before I took a drink. Makes me gag to think about it.

hey all,i'm at the library, they're doing a food sale here today to buy more spanish books,so not to get all political or anything but i've been watching fox news all week on 53 and i saw a sign at one of the tea parties that said "there's a village in kenya thats missing it's idiot" now after doing a sharp intake of breath and thinking racist rednecks i realized that it's no different than the signs that used to say "there's a village in texas thats missing it's idiot, both somewhat offensive but not racist, then a couple weeks back i was reading one of the columns in the papers here and the writer referred to the past administration as the "forrest gump/darth vader administration and then later on made reference to someone else referring to obama as "obama, the magic mulatto, now i thought that both references were hilarious. I have no idea where i'm going with this thought by the way. I think Obama needs to spend more money,i think this country needs to be made state of the art in every single area from infrastructure to communications to education to healthcare, after the Bush years he's got alot to do to bring the United States up to speed,i say spend like it is XMAS now, pour massive amounts into everything including pork and THEN get serious about regulations and controls on future spending, bailouts and pork,in yesterdays dollars Roosevelt spent more than Obama has in todays dollars and our country emerged from that as the richest strongest nation on the face of earth ever, anyway i'm going to go eat chicken and rice so they can buy more books.

ok Donna from sadies pet boutiqe(sp) just yelled at me and tried to educate me about pitbulls,"it's not the dog it's the owner" you know that kind of thing, the woman whos dog got chomped has talked to coliani about filing charges against the officers that showed up because they did nothing (negligence),these downtown cops are so worried about 2 hour parking that they miss the real crimes, like right now there's a group of them down on the boardwalk gossiping away and doing nothing,i really like donna she gets so worked up and passionate about animals,i mean really worked up lol. Oh the bubble bistro is open, so i went in to say hi and see the inventory, smells good in there,oh and theres a woman running around downtown measuring sidewalks and steps for the us attorneys office, something about handicapped accessibility, lol how much will that all cost and who'll have to pay for it

Today I saw another ugly lizard. I looked it up and turns out the lizards I think ugly are geckos. The cute one I've been calling geckos are anoles. So . .. I still love my little cute anoles, and the geckos are no longer ugly.

Everyday I learn a new thing.

I have a Puerto Rican man doing some work on my house and though I don't speak Spanish, I understand quite a bit because I had 4 years in high school. I never tell anyone that I understand so I can just listen. I know that isn't very nice of me. Anyway this man became frustrated at my husband one day and hubby became frustrated at him and because I understood what the problem was I gave myself away to both of them that I could understand. Now the PR man insist that I speak Spanish to him everyday and corrects me and has me repeat my self until he is satisfied. Very funny. The good thing is that I am getting over my fear of trying to speak another language.

Which brings me to JJ. JJ and I have our own little language that only we understand. We have been on island since he was two and he has been in preschool. They teach him spanish, I teach him spanish and he plays with West Indian children. In one sentence he speaks JJ speech, spanish and cruzian. The other day he was playing with a group of West Indian children and I saw him get his mean face on and ball up his fist, wave his arms around and stomp off. I went and got him and asked what was wrong and he said that he was vexed. I asked him why he was angry because JJ never gets angry at other children, he just walks off. He said, " De boy make me crazy, he smack his sister upside de head". Then he said with my southern accent, "his mama needs to whup his backside". I managed not to giggle because he was so upset. I told him play with me for a while and not to worry that the boy and his sister would work it out.

Hubby is having a hard time. His father is dying. He has 5 siblings and they have to make some difficult decisions. Whether to keep him alive or pull the plug. Their father is a veteran of WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. His ship was sunk in the South Pacific and he was one of the few they rescued after 36 hours. The sharks got the rest. His ship was the Duncan, His name is David Russel Nicoll from Massachusetts. He was a mean old Scott from the Isle of Skye and I don't like him much and he didn't like me. He like to call me a dirty Irish and a halfbreed.I am half Irish and Cherokee. Bad combination. Needless to say he is a very tough and rough old man. He is 90. Full of Piss and Vinegar and will not go gently into the night. All I can do is listen and say that I love you. My hubby cannot even put down our dog who was cancer ridden. I feel bad that I am not there to comfort him and I cannot tell him that JJ cries for him each night. They are best buddies. I am still an old Navy wife who tries to offer comfort and hold down the home front until he comes home. Yea for me. I am proud that I am a wife, daughter, grandaugher, niece, aunt, mother and sister of those who served and tried to give them each the comfort of knowing that I maintained the house and children while they did their duty. I know. I am a sap.

With all that being said, JJ and I had a wonderful day at Ha Penny today. He found an old cinder block and with a little friend they found all kinds of neat things from the bush and the ocean and built a Fairy house complete with trees and bushes made from coral, rocks and little twigs. JJ gladly loaned his buggie board to a bunch of kids for the day. It is busted now but he didn't care. He had so much fun.

Which brings me to that I was dismayed at how dirty that Ha Penny was. It is my favorite beach for just swimming. A ton of trash. I am going to go down on Tuesday to pick up some trash if anyone wants to join me. I will provide trash bags and I have a pickup truck and can haul it to the trash dump. PM me if you want to join me.

TAMI, that's s right about JJ's language. Z, my 41/2 yrar old grandson was born in Hawaii so he learned ono for good, pow for all done , hono for turtle, ohana for family and a lot others. Then he moved here and goes to school with locals so he's picked up the patois too. Sometimes he gets frustrated trying to tell me something because he mixes all of it togetherso I have to slow him down to hear which words he's using. His father understands him perfectly.

The CV restaurant thing is supposed to be a rest. and a deli as well, downstairs. Supposedly someone is suing or such though, because it will look inot their swimming pool...we went and could not see any pools from the upper deck, so who knows. Was in it a few months back but at that time could not figure out where the kitchen was going, as there was no provision made that we could see for the infrastructure...and are not even sure where the rest rooms were going to go...plus the way it's set up, if you are at the bar on the outside deck, you are looking into the rest instead of across to BI. There will be issues I'm sure with noise, if they plan on any entertainment. It was supposed to open long ago, but this is stx after all.
When the Bongo's folks first came down, they were out at the YC as guests of someone, in the evening, sitting at a table inside (ok, so it's not the fanciest place, but they were in the dining area inside)...she was sitting at a table, had a drink about halfway finished....wanted something else, so she just tossed the drink and the ice on the floor under the table like she was sitting in the sand...classy all the way.

That's the neighborhood. It's also the area where John Edwards'
baby mama hung out last summer.

Our little poodle is lost and JJ is very sick with a high fever. Doctor said to keep him in the AC and I want to drive around and look for the dog. Trying to get in touch with my daughter to help but her phone is just going to voice mail. I feel so frustrated. Hubby is still off island. I feel awful that I let the dog get out the door because I knew she was in heat. I would have spayed her long ago but she was my mothers dog. I hope we find her. If we do we will have to spay her right away. She is very tiny and if she mated with any other dog and got pregnant it would probably kill her. Poor JJ keeps going to the door and yelling for her. He told me that he was using his mean voice and that would make her come home. Jeez, I feel so bad.
