Salud Bistro was just named one of the top 50 restaurants in the Caribbean!! Only one on St Croix to make the list!

gonetropo, sorry you had a bad meal at El Sol.
We have never had a bad meal there.
We always order the rib eye steak which is only $20. I also like the center cut pork chops. I think they are only $12.
Never order the filet since we like the rib eye steak so much.
El Sol is still on my top of places to eat on St. Croix.

We went to Rumrunners last nigth and had the specials, which were both good.

And they were at 75% capacity - quite a few tourists!!!

But they are one of the ones that won't take the Discover card.

We all ordered the 'fake filet mignon' because it was the most expensive on the menu and just figured that it would be the best.
Bad choice on our part but it shouldn't have been based on the cost.

Also, didn't really like the plastic tablecloths and the salad served in a Styrofoam bowl. Certainly not my ideas of a $140 meal for 4.

I do agree with you about those plastic tablecloths. I hate those. I've never had a Styrofoam bowl with my salad there. That might be a new thing.
I think we are going there tonight if they are open.

I had dinner at Blue Water tonight. Fast service, excellent food, and no automatic tip. (tu)

Went to El Sol last night.
Everyone had a good meal. Steaks and pork chops. No Styrofoam bowl came with our salads. That must of been a one time thing.
Still had those plastic table cloths though. (td)

We went to Above the Cliff last night for dinner and music.

I had the Chicken Parmesan, it was delicious. One of the best chicken parm's I have ever had. The chicken was so tender. It came with a salad and garlic bread. I think it was $20. Sooo good.

They had Mama's Black sheep playing. What a great band. If you haven't seen these girls go check them out. They will be here for at least 2 more weeks. www.stcroixcalendar.com

I recently had dinner at Eat @ Cane Bay. They must losing money or something. The (non-burger) portions were very small. The taste was good but I had to eat again when I got home. Disappointing after such a long trek to get there.

I've taken house guests to Eat a couple times for lunch. The fish sandwich tasted good but you need a microscope to see the fish on the bun. Way too small a portion for the price.

Yes...it was the Fish & Chips that I had. The portion was smaller than what I'd expect on a Filet O' Fish from McDo. And for $16 bucks...I felt like I'd been robbed. They gave plenty of fries though.

Fries are not what I care about when I order a fish sandwich for double digits!! I can eat fries at McD's if want them!!

Restaurants seem to think they can buy us off with a large portion of fries and make the main dish tiny - for a high price. I just don't go back with that kind of menu pricing!

Is Zennys still open next to the post office in town? $5 local plate was great!

Went to you are here today after the doggy parade. The food was okay. The server was very nice but also very forgetful. She was by herself? Why do restaurants do that? Are they trying to piss off the dinners? I think if she had written down the order instead of trying to remember she would not have had to come back to the table no less than three times because she forgot what we said No silverware at the table and had to ask for some. Not the best server but is that normal for her or was it because she was by herself. The pizza was nice but I liked flat iron grill better. The calzone was good but hubby likes off the wall better. The service will. Be what keeps us away

I ate at the You Are Here during the Jump Up on Friday night. Of course it was busy. There was a guy there waiting tables who seemed like a manager type. What an a**hole he was. Extremely short tempered and very unfriendly. Why do people like that get into the service industry if they can't be polite and courteous? The pizza was "just okay" but nothing to write home about. I'm not sure I would go back there.

understaffed, rude manager, just okay pizza-forgot to mention lack of toppings on the pizza. i really hate it when a server goes up to a table and starts by saying " I'm sorry" that sets a negative tone from the beginning that you will not be getting great service, which we did not .

i agree with you sunshinefun

AVOID the pizza at Above the Cliff. Frozen cheese pizza with toppings thrown on.

"How was your dinner?"

" Your frozen pizza was terrible"

"oh, I'm sorry. Here's your bill"

"Thanks"

"Are you finished with that pizza?" (3/4 still on the plate)

The hamburger was OK, service OK until we got the food. I had to ask the bartender for the bill, and that took 15 minutes to arrive.

Went there once and was not impressed with the owner. I guess it was the owner, he had to woken up so he could cook and no personality. That was not long after they opened and have not been back since

Rum Runners is still the best overall. Big servings, diverse menu, friendly service, good ambiance, clean, romantic and family friendly at the same time, the lobster mango salad and the quesadilla are never off.

P.S. @ South-east downtown Christiansted, past Savant, corner of the first entrance to Gallows Bay...
