We went to BWT the other day for lunch. The food was great, the menu was full of do-not-have's and the service was poor.

We've gone into the Bistro now on several occasions and it has been wonderful and, more importantly, consistent!

Anyone on STX know where to get some crab legs? Cheney Bay doesn't have them, anymore. What's the name of the restaurant at Hibiscus now? They used to have them. They used to be good, then got pretty gnarly, but I'd give them another chance.

Juanita, maybe the new Butcher/Fish market in Gallows bay. I think the name is the Basic Butcher

Elizabeth's at the Hibiscus

Thanks. I thought Eliz.'s had changed hands again and was something different. We used to go for the Friday all you can eat crab legs, and it was really good for the first 3 or 4 times. Then, don't know what happened, but the food got a little sloppy. I'll check with them and give 'em another shot. I was really hoping for some crab legs before Friday. Just got that craving!!!!

Dinner at Blue Moon was a disappointment. The Wahoo was already dead, they did not need to kill it some more. Too bad. There are so few places to eat out west, and none of them are worth the drive anymore.

What happened to Blue Moon?

We are finding most places a disappointment, to the point where we don't go out nearly as much as we used to. I am so looking forward to going to the states later this month and eating my way through Florida! LOL

I agree with you about finding most places disappointing.

(td) Ate at the Palms last week... we were the only ones dining at the start of dinner. They 'lost' our order, then served rice that wasn't fully cooked, yet the chef said it was fine (Culinary Tip: Cooked Basmati rice should be rather soft, not hard).

(tu) Ate at Beachside Cafe at Sandcastles on the westend the other night, and it was good. Good service and great setting too.

We went to Savant this past Tuesday for dinner only because we were guests of another couple and we picked Savant vs going somewhere else. What a great choice we made since my wife & I have never ate there. All 4 of us had an excellent experience. Without going into details of what everybody ordered; wine, appetizers, entrees, & their unique twist on serving coffee was all very delicious. The wait staff was friendly, prompt and very efficient.

Reminisce Restaurant last night was great. They are where the old Queen's Quarter hotel was. Now it's Villas and nice apartments with a new restaurant and bar poolside. They have a lunch menu, bar menu, and dinner menu. Worth checking out!!

The name of this place is Asian Caribbean Cusine. It is located just west of 5 corners gas station besides the video store. They have an extensive menu along with sushi & Nigiri sushi. It is kind of pricey, servings are modest to small. They only use organically grown products including meats. Food was very tasty but too pricey for our budget. Nice clean place.

.

Drove by on the way into town today and there were "Closeout Sale" signs all over the windows.

Juanita on STX
VI resident since 1996

Are you sure that isn't the store next door that has the "closeout sale" signs on the windows? I saw the same thing Saturday but thought it was the video rental place with the closeout signs.

I am DONE, DONE, DONE with poor customer service. Tried to order a to go from Breezees. I asked why we had to pay for bread on a to go when we didn't have to pay for bread in house. Told "it's our policy". Hubby asked earlier, and was told it was because it's a to go box. Really?? $4.00 for a to go box? Not too smart, IMHO. Order canceled. Somewhere along the line I learned that "It's our policy" is the kiss of death in customer service. No customer ever feels special when they get that answer. Making the customer feel special is what customer service is all about. Just ranting because now I have to go fix dinner! LOL

The guy who owns Breezes is a TOTAL ASS, we stopped going there a long time ago. One time when we were there and it started raining he told guest it was their problem as they chose to sit outside, when 90 percent of their tables are outside. The stories about him are numerous.

Asian Caribbean 5 Corners did have the 'Closeout Sale' sign and the place next to it was for rent. We don't go out for Chinese anymore. Poor dinners at China Panda (old Sam Woo's) and Jade...

"It's our policy" to piss off customers reminds me of a happier story. A hotel owner on STT told me that each of the front desk staff is authorized to immediately remove the energy surcharge for any customer who complains about it. No management approval is needed.

Agree about Breezez... It's a shame the owners are so difficult because the food is pretty good! And I feel for the servers who have to take the brunt/ backlash of the pointless "owners' policies..."

We had dinner last night at Reminesce - a pretty new restaurant close to the hospital. The food and service were exceptional!

I believe the old chef is back at China Panda; had lunch there last week and it was good.

No Bones--haven't been there for years; lunch was great and service exceptional.
Nice to see the owner working when it's busy, too many of them sit on their ass and watch everything go to hell.

Went to Salud last night - we Love that place.

Been going to BISTRO often, but I don't get away for lunch a lot - so I'm glad that they are now open on Sunday's too.

Had take-out from Galangal earlier this week, good, but really expensive. My thought is that they are probably having to buy special ingredients and spices and that brings up the prices.
I was dissapointed with the shrimp spring-rolls, but really like the Chicken pad thai and the Duck curry.

It's been a while but we hit our last straw with topside... one too many unimpressive meals when there are so many other places Id rather spend my money.
My last disappointment there was Schnitzel... dry and totally boring! basically - they served me a giant breaded pork cutlet - but there was no side, no sauce, no umph.

Was looking forward to finally eating at Bernies Beachside Cafe on the far westend. Disappointed the other night that it was "just okay". This was the consensus of all four of us. Given the distant location, prices, and similar dining competition, they're gonna need to do something.
