Another young life lost. It is beyond tragic. Does anyone know if the victim was an employee of the store, or a random customer? Horrible either way but we were there yesterday picking up our Xmas tree, right by where the murder supposedly occurred. The two guys who helped us could not have been kinder. It is a tragedy no matter what, I know. But I hope the victim was not either one of these sweet and funny young guys.

MAN SHOT DEAD IN PARKING LOT OF GALLOWS BAY HARDWARE STORE BY MULTIPLE SUSPECTS; POLICE SAY INCIDENT WAS TARGETED

"Police Commissioner Delroy Richards, quoting eye witnesses, said the incident occurred in the parking lot of the hardware store, and that a number of suspects who were wearing masks left a vehicle, ran up to the individual and shot him multiple times.

Today’s homicide brings the territory’s total for 2018 to 43, with 31 incidents in St. Croix and 12 in the St. Thomas-St. John District, according to information provided by the Police Department"

STT seems safer than STX based on above numbers.

The STT gunmen are still away at the moment due to hurricane damages. They'll be back soon, and everything will be back to normal.

“According to Mr. Dratte, a V.I.P.D. preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was a targeted shooting, as the victim was approached by multiple individuals who shot him several times. Police Commissioner Delroy Richards, quoting eye witnesses, said the incident occurred in the parking lot of the hardware store, and that a number of suspects who were wearing masks left a vehicle, ran up to the individual and shot him multiple times.”

I was there later in the day and saw the fire department hosing down the area and thought the garden shop had caught fire. Someone told me they had to use a fire hose to wash the blood out of the Christmas Tree tent were the incident took place.

My wife and I went to the boat parade later that night in Christiansted. Lots of people were talking about it. Town was crowded though and everyone was in a festive mood, good food, drink, and vibe all around.

How the heck were the shooters able to get away from such a busy area with a lot of people?!? Too bad there wasn't someone armed on the premises who could have shot out their tires as they sped away (if they got away in the vehicle).

Probably the Police were offended. By the criticism.

Read Islander's sticky post.  Some of the recent posts past few days didn't transfer to new board yet they are working on transferring them manually.

If any place needed a federal gang force intervention, St.Croix needs one right now. This masked gunmen crap is way out of hand. Our representative in Washington needs to get busy, this is LA nonsense.

The VIPD has never been able to or wanted to (don’t know) control & squash the gang warfare  on STX.

I believe so, Scubadoo, as that information was in the article about the man slain at 4 Corners.
