STX posters. What is your favorite beach on the island? So far mine is half penny. Long stretch of white sand and nice sandy bottom. It reminds me somewhat of the outerbanks in North Carolina.

Ha'Penny is nice for sitting and walking, but not good for snorkeling. For shorkeling prefer the north and west shore beaches. Chenay Bay - out beyond the point to the right. The area just north of F'sted where Changes in L'Additude used to be, and Cane Bay.

A word about Ha'Penny. This is an isolated location. I go there with Ric, but I wouldn't go alone.

I agree Linda J. Ha'penny is not a a good snorkling beach and is a bit isolated. I love it for swimming with my 3 year old. However I would have gone there alone with my son. I haven't had any trouble but thanks for the warning I will be more careful.

For snorkling I like the beach by Cottages by the Sea. Seen everything but a dolphin by swimming south of there. Or I enjoy Jack and Issacs. Nice and isolated and you get a little hike as a bonus.

Buck Island west is sure a nice place to hang out. Sandy Point is also lots of fun. These are great for swimming and playing frisbee and football without worrying about sea urchins since the bottoms are completely sandy. For snorkeling, I like Carambola and Cane Bay. If you have a boat, the better snorkeling is on the barrier reef to the northwest of Buck Island. The biggest lobsters you have ever seen are out walking all over the place. It really makes you hungry in a hurry. lol. Too bad it's illegal to take them from there. But we wouldn't see any left if it were fishing grounds. Also good snorkeling at Jacks & Isaacs. Good lobstering there, too.

yeah but thats the hard way. That way is truely a hike 🙂 Hopefully someone else can give you directions I'm not sure of any of the landmarks to turn into the area thats on the other side of Jack and Issacs. The side where all the million dollar type houses are.

Park at Crammer Park.

Hike east toward Point Udall. The first road on your right past the driveway into the radio telescope is the road up goat hill.

Hike up this road to the first summit. You will see an old fence at the first summit. When you get to this first summit head west (to your right) about 75 feet and you will see a trail head with signs leading to Jacks and Isaacs Bay. The trail isn't used a lot but you can follow it down to the bays. Another option is to come in from Grape tree.

You will need hiking shoes and water. Snorkeling is great.

Enjoy.

Actually there is a much shorter easier hike from the grape tree Bay side. I'm not good a giving directions, so I'll let someone else tell you. Jimdandy's hike is just that...a very long and difficult hike.

Technically, nudity is illegal on all USVI beaches....however, I have seen nude sunbathers many times at Jack & Isaac......and not just women either!!!

we go to Jacks and Isaacs by boat. You have to be careful going through the cuts in the reef, but there is a way in. We cheated and used the GPS the first couple times.
