How can you tell if a taxi is a $2.50 taxi bus or a regular taxi?
Where in Christiansted are the $2.50 taxi buses parked?
Thanks!

They look the same. The regular taxis are down by the taxi stand at the end of King St. The $2.50 taxi buses aren't "parked." They continuously drive from Frederiksted to Christiansted and back throughout the day. You can catch them anywhere on King St. or Company St..

Still wondering how you tell them apart from the regular ones. I've always wondered about it.

If it's driving a route, it's a taxi bus. If it's stopped, waiting for passengers, it's a taxi.

I guess there's no clear cut answer, because obviously other taxi's drive the same roads as "the route". I was interested by this thread because I've always been curious as others have asked me over the years, but not curious enough to ask myself. I thought people would just know the taxi's name. As I'm sure they look like all the other taxi vans but they mostly all have names and of coarse the taxi drivers do as well. 😉

I'm interested, too. We sometimes have tenants without cars, and I'd like to be able to give them some good info on getting around, but I don't know how you can tell, either. Do any of them have a route that goes down Northside Rd (Route 75, west of C'sted)? I know they go through Golden Rock, but that's the closest I have seen.

Public transportation is defintely one thing St. Thomas does better than St. Croix. I wonder why we (STX) don't have the safari buses. They are great! You can tell them from the open safari "taxis" because most of the passengers are local. I suppose that would be one way to tell the vans apart too, except you can't really see the people inside.

Juanita: VITran runs the little "short bus" up the Northside Rd. The taxi bus doesn't run there.

Thanks. I do see the little bus occasionally. According to the Vitran schedule, it goes by every 1.5 hours. NOT!

I see some of our neighbor teenagers waiting and waiting and waiting...
