STT/STJ jobs
hi!
can anyone tell me what the job climate is like in STT/STJ during the months may-sept?
thanks
slower than the rest of the year. depends what industry you're in of course. the restaurants and hotels all hire people for peak season, and i think they let some people go during those months since it's slower. but the non-tourist jobs keep people year round. in general, the job market here isn't too active (a couple jobs in the paper every day) and the pay scale isn't too high (work to live, not able to save much).
Hello Celeste,
What type of job?

i can do many lines of work: waiting tables, retail, secretarial, etc. i'm pretty flexible, but if i could pick and chose, i'd stay away from waitressing.
Hello Celeste,
Secretarial work, receptionist in doctors/dentist/insurance office... there isn't a better month; you just have to keep your eyes and ears open for openings and apply. Sometimes these types of jobs don't even advertise, the owner might ask a friend if they know anyone, ask current employees for recommendations - and do it by word of mouth or by referal basically. Hotels/resorts often have openings for front desk and in other office positions. So you can find work in an office.
Retail and waiting tables, you will have a better chance coming at the beginning of season, Nov, Dec, Jan... Season is basically Nov-May.
If you are planning to move in May or June, I would say save enough money to carry you through the job search and possibility of not finding something right away. If you were planning in July, Aug, Sept... I would say wait until Oct-Nov.
