STT: Rec for Home Inspector or Contractor?
Hi All:
Can anyone recommend a home inspector or contractor who can give me a really thorough inspection? I mean the kind of guy (or gal) who will go up onto roofs, walk down into the bush to look at septic tanks, shine a light into cisterns etc. I've seen sample reports of a few inspections and they were strictly "check the box" affairs where they've written up data that was easily observable even by a layperson and not done much more (e.g. "Kitchen floor: ceramic tile. Kitchen door: aluminum..." ) I used a contractor previously but even though he's a great guy whose done terrific work for us (and who we'll likely use again), I'm feeling that there may be a bit of a conflict of interest in his evaluations of a prospective purchase--after all, if a deal doesn't go, no new work for him.
Anyway, recommendations, suggestions appreciated.

Adrian Bishop. He did all the above and some. He even checked to make suer there was current in the electrical sockets. Everything he said needed work, has.
oops, guess a number might be helpful.

Its not a bad idea to hire a electrician or plumber with a very good reputation either. Some home inspectors are great but it rare for one to really know enough in these fields as someone who specializes in them. Most house here were built with by the owners over time and who knows how much experience they had.
Good point. Thanks, Betty.
