STT OR STJ??
I'm trying to decide where to move St.Thomas or St.John? I will be moving on Aug 3rd, looking for a room not more than $800/month incl utilities, in a safe area.
Which one would you recommend, and why?
Cheers,
Wissam
If you're very lucky St Thomas might be doable on that budget, but St John is not.
Ive got serious questions. Im a licenced practical nurse or some call an LVN. i really enjoy corrections/ jail work. I've lived on island time all my life. I'm not too picky and dont want the best part of town just lower/working class streets are fine with me the kind i can walk down to the corner shop after work for milk while the kids play soccer in the lot. I'm a cheap-o. my hubby does construction /electrical work hes from Mexico so we've got to figure out the Mexico paperwork to get there and the consulate isn't always so helpful. next we have 3 boys middle and elem. age i just want a decent school . if anyone has any advise pls let me know, i want to change asap if i can get hubby convinced. then I've got to think where i can finish up my RN at. making a summary makes it look like a lot but naaaaaaaaw til be OK.
hecate: I would start a new thread. Your problems are very different from Wissam's.
Wissam: What are you wanting to do with your time here? You might want to contact Ronnie about availability at http://villafairviewusvi.com/ until you get your options worked out.
Okay, I just saw your posts in the classified section. Not sure where you are going to go backpacking here, so you might want to come for a short vacation and check out the place. Also, getting a "new product" on the market may be immeasuably more difficult than where you live.
East Ender: Thank you for your genuine response. I will be looking for a job all day, cause I will need an income.
My product will be something I will be working on the side. I have 6 years experience in managing hotels, so I will try that first, and if not will look into waiting tables. If you have any suggestion about a job, would really like to hear it.
I would prefer to have a room in a house/apt with someone, that way it wont be too lonely plus they can help me mapping my way around.
Do you anyone?
Cheers,
I really think you need to see the lay of the land before you plunk down a big chunk of change on a room. If you stay at a place like Ronnie's, you can get out and find the place of your dreams. Don't rent anything long term unless you have seen it. Make sure you have enough money to keep yourself afloat for a month or two while looking for work. Don't burn your bridges back home. A place like Villa Fairview gives you a starting place.
Wissam, To be brief:
STX $$$
STT $$$$$
STJ $$$$$$$$$$
Or, to get between "home" and VI, it's usually:
STX: 2 airplane rides
STT: 1 airplane ride
STJ: 1 airplane ride and 1 ferry ride
Getting any place for 800 will be VERY difficult and probably impossible on STJ. You should get another room mate and get a one bedroom for about 1400. Then you can get in on STT.

I figured it will be STT...Does anybody know anyone that is looking for a roommate?
these places have some rentals for STT and STJ, if you haven't tried. Also, it's craigslist so you can post roommate stuff.

You might also click on Forum List at the top of the page and post a note on USVI Classifieds.
You guys are realy helpfull, thank you so much!
O.K. thanks
Good Luck guys
BTW, Wissam, have you not considered St. Croix? Same population as St. Thomas and twice the land area. Fewer cars. Less costly.
