STT: BEST SIDE OF TOWN
Is the west & north side typically for university students? And, what is the difference in the living conditions between the east/west & north/south sides of the island?
Do you have a map of St Thomas? You can see where UVI is and that the west and north sides are closest, which is why a lot of UVI students pick those areas. There is also affordable housing in those areas. The east end and the south tend to be drier, the northside has more rain and big trees. The south shore road (by Bolongo) is not on the safari route. There are stores and services in the town area, Tutu and Red Hook. Other areas have some small (expensive) convenience stores only. If you haven't been, it is really a good idea to come, drive around and look at what is available.
Let me try to answer this. The west side of town is the best to go to the UVI and has a more rural look to it as you go to the north. Most of the shopping is on the east and south sides of the island. To get from the east to the west is a real pain in the ass. There are more jobs on the east side and there are better beaches. The east side costs more to live on.
Even though I live on the east side if I were going to the UVI would stay on the west/north side.
