Does anyone know what they are? They are black with stringy looking legs. When they land on the wall they twitch.

I've no idea what they are but have seen them many times over many years and just leave them be. As I do with a lot of strange flying critters, if they end up inside I just pop a plastic cup over them, slide a piece of paper under the cup to contain them and just let them go outside.

Inside is the only place I see them. I just wondered do they sting or bite? I already had Chikngunya. I know that's mosquitos but I don't need another insect infecting me with something.

Not that I know of. As I said, I've seen them around for years. Never has one launched an attack on me, I've had them land on me with no ill effect (they just sit and twitch), I've looked at them through a magnifying glass and they don't seem to have any sort of evil-looking biting mechanism. Always regarded them as a perfectly harmless species.
