So every time it rains, the air outside our master bedroom (which is surrounded by trees) REEKS, and of course the smell seeps into the bedroom. Has anyone heard of a local tree that emits a smell in the rain? My husband thinks I'm crazy because only my daughter and I can smell it!

Neem trees have a scent/smell

Supposed to repel mosquitos.

Can you post a picture of the tree showing bark and leaves?

Bet it a Kasha tree--big thorns and smells like cat pee?

I've never posted a picture on here, but let me see if it's quit raining enough to go out and shoot one.

If I did this right, here are the pictures of the leaves and the bark. Thanks for the help!

My husband says it's probably the Jojo Plum tree. He had one and had to cut it down because it smelled like a baby's dirty diaper. :o(

Maybe noni? There are a bunch fruiting now in Coral Bay, and they stink as they ripen!

greetings

if it's noni...pick the fruit, juice it and drink it....wonderful for one's health...tastes really nasty but is good for you...if it's june plum...make jam...there's a silver lining to most aggravations....

Great pics! I'm pretty sure that's seaside mahoe...

I'm not sure that's responsible for the smell tho, unless there are rotting fruit beneath. It IS a messy tree.

I dont' know how anyone can drink Noni juice...the smell makes me want to Vomit when I mow over one of the fruits in my yard. I'd have to see some really good scientific evidence that there was something in there that would do me any good and that this wasn't just a folktale before I drank something that rank! In general something that repulsive to the human palate is not good for the human body 🙂
